Radical change of heart

We can spend 45 minutes just in the Oasis (which most guests seem to zip through, wondering why Disney decided to put so much of a walk between the entry gate and the attractions  ). It is the most under-rated portion of any Disney park, and just exemplifies what's best about Animal Kingdom, and perhaps what so many folks don't "get" about Animal Kingdom.

we spent a day and 1/2 there last trip and could have spent the rest of the second day...we enjoy watching the animals, talking with the cms about them, soaking in the theming, the rides, even didn't totally mind dinoland :goodvibes

we are i guess what you would call nature enthusiasts anyway but it is my fav park...not so much for just the rides but i just like the park atmosphere in general the best. i think if you are a"rides only " type person or like to run from one attraction to the next you probably just don't "get" ak and wouldn't care for it. if you are a more "ex-hippie( OK ex ex ex- hippie, 1 ex per decade since my Hippie days :rotfl2: )/ nature loving" person ( like me :rotfl: )you'd probably love it

We always do it in a half day too! Never even saw the parade there! Always was toooooooooooo HOT to hang around for it!
For some reason I get VERY confused in that park, never know where I am...or how to get to the next place. :confused3
I actually feel guilty about it!

We were there for spring break week and with the new EE open, you will find much bigger crowds. The park walkways were really crowded...almost not enough room to move everyone...the biggest crowd problems we had on the entire trip. I love the park and found that we were there until after the parade, and still did not do everything that was available (not possible anyway with 2 year old) DO not miss the lion king show...it bring tears to my eyes!

I've never spent an entireday at AK, but hey I'm a park-hopping kinda guy and the only park I remember being there the whole day is EPCOT.With Everest opening I definitely spend more time at AK, but I doubt I will be there from morning to closing.

As far as AK being the biggest park, that really doesn't mean anything, it's the biggest park cause the safari ride requires a huge space for the animals and there is still empty space not currently used. So it might be the biggest park as far as size but it still needs more attractions.

Yeah, I agree, more attractions will hopefully be on the horizon.

It does take a lot out of you (walking through it) though. I realize that it doesn't have attractions filling every space, but man those "treks" and "exploration trails" really do take quite a bit of time (in a good way).

To really submerge yourself in learning about, and truly observing, the wildlife, it just seems like it would take more than a half day for sure. And for some reason we never last more than a half day! I just think that the distances between the attractions is what tends to make folks bail early. But with so many animals, the distance is necessary.
