Is this ride open during the extra morning magic hours? Are you able to get fast passes during that hour too or do they only start issuing when the park opens for normal hours.

Generally yes, it is still sometimes cantankerous in the AM and can take a while to get going. Fastpass is only available during normal park hours. We like to ride it as many times as we can early and then watch the FP times to get an evening return. We think the experience at night is way better.

Yes, it's open. It's a great ride, but breaks down quite frequently.

When I was there last week ( for the half marathon) it seemed to be up and running all the times I was there but fastpasses do get used up quite quickly and on Labor day standby queues were at 90mins by 10am .It is a very good ride though.

So true! It broke down when we were on it in May. Luckily we were just coming into the disembarking area. My friend is there right now and said it broke down for them but the ride had just started. They had to get out of the car and walk down the mountain. They gave them a pass to come back later but they never made it back, mostly because of the heat. So unfair! Oh and they waited in line without fastpasses
