GO, WISH TEAM, GO! Woohoo! :cheer2:

I'll be running the Gulf Coast 1/2 too. Got my bib yesterday; this will be my second half where they use the foam bib tag.

Good luck Jusacuz in the Spokane Half Marathon. I'll be there doing the 10K so if you see my WISH shirt please come say "hi!" :thumbsup2

Ran my second 5k of October yesterday and did it with a sore hammie and a raging head cold. Still managed to come in at 34:48, which is an improvement over my time from last year (same race, same course) of 35:08 so I'm thrilled!! :woohoo: I did the Race for the Cure last weekend and it was a LOT more hilly than I am used to so my time was quite a bit slower....37:05 but overall, a good race because of the reasons I was there (running for 7 women in my life who have been touched by the disease). Now it's time to prepare for my 10k in November!

I ended up not starting. I haven't been running and didn't feel like my knees could take the hills. :(

Thanks for the good wishes!
I finished my half marathon. It certainly wasn't a PR but I'm proud that I finished. I was undertrained, in part because my oldest child just spent 2 horrifying weeks in the hospital (he's much better), and it was much warmer than expected (high temps yesterday of 84!). I used a Galloway run/walk strategy and a very experienced but injured runner ended up running with me for the whole race. He noticed I was taking regular walk breaks and realized that would be the only way he could finish. It was really fun to have a running partner. He was a great companion and we found lots to talk about during the race (I had never met him before - he's a 56 year old dentist who has run several marathons, etc.). Even though my time wasn't great, it wasn't my slowest either. And I feel pretty good today so it won't derailed my marathon training.
This was a much smaller race than my previous 2 half marathons so I was definitely towards the back of the pack but we passed a lot of people in the 2nd half of the race due to run/walk. The medal is nice and the t-shirt was very nice (white tech shirt that actually fits me!).
Lesson learned: Having fun is far more important than how fast you run!

Amanda

I'm glad you had a good experience, Amanda. Bet it felt great just to get out in the fresh air after the stress of having your little one in the hospital.
