Well, the Last run of 2010 (or is it the first run of 2011? Always confusing) is in the books. The second annual Resolution Run 5k benefitting MADD was as fun as the inaugural one last year, but much warmer. Last year we were near freezing with a strong wind. This year, the wind was present but temps were a comfortable 59F at the start.
The gun went off along with a countdown to the new year. In the first mile I was on a 8:40 pace. It was a little faster than I wanted so I started trying to pull back. Second mile around 9:15. Then a small twinge in the right hammie. Not sure if it was the ham saying you Do Not Work me hard the day of a race of if the twinge was in fact an injury. We shall see this week. Anyway finished up in the low 29:xx range. I thought that I was in the mid 20s but knew that was too fast for the level of training I have under my belt. Then end result is where I really wanted to start the run at, a nice comfortable marathon pace.
Anyway, it was a fun run but I am probably not running it again, unless traffic control is a little deeper. The warmth brought out a lot more idiots a few who were not pleased with the course running through a subdivision at midnight. Or maybe the 1-2% were just a little more vocal this year. Definitely, a few car drivers or passengers were taking in a little too many alcohol ions. Anyway, it is really not worth the hassle of possibly seeing an incident.
