Good luck to everyone!

Good luck WISH team.

Tracy - I always wanted to do the Run like a Bunny 5k run but haven't been able to catch it - good luck with the racewalk

I hope everyone has a great time at their repsective races this weekend!!! GO WISH!!!

OK, I will be first to post a report on my 5K.

I participated in the 7th Annual Run Like a Bunny 5K Racewalk this morning. This also incorporates a Run and a Health Walk.

This is the third time I have done this race. Takes place right near the ocean in Pompano Beach, FL. Nice local event with kids races after the 5K.
I got to the area around 7am. Got my chip and bib and warmed up a bit and got in line for the restroom.
Unusual for this year the racewalkers and runners started together and it used to be that the racewalkers started 5 min after. The course was changed a bit this year and nice. The WIND was horrible!! Winds on the beach were 21mph with gusts in the thirties! I had to hold on to my visor at times to keep it from flying away. About .20 before the finish the wind is coming right at you with no buildings to block so I really couldn't even look up and had to actually lean into the wind to keep moving!
I met up with an old racewalking friend (Sterling). I met him from my Dad's store as he goes in there a lot for supplies. He has done Disney races also. I waited with him and his wife for the start of the race. I stayed over to the right side. I kept up with Sterling for about .10 at the start and was hurting a bit, so I bid my farewell and slowed a bit. I knew that wasn't a smart idea as my shins then started to talk to me. I told them I wasn't listening today. I kept a pretty good pace despite the wind and the wind even pushed me some at two points in the race. I just pushed as hard as I could at the end and finished hard as I usually like to do. I turned off Garmi and looked. I was on target! Waited around for the results and got some snacks. I watched some of the kids races and took some photos...

I hope you can see from the surf and waves that if was very windy. We don't usually get that kind of waves on a regular basis unless you count hurricanes. :-)

OK so as the awards started to get handed out I found out that...

I placed FIRST in the females!! Yeah Me! I probably would've been second as the other racewalker lady was injured the week before and couldn't participate today.
My friend Sterling placed First also. He is one speedy dude!!

Here are the two first place racewalkers!!!

Was a very nice local race and had lots of awards for runners in age groups and lots of raffle gifts. Volunteers were great and they had 3 water stops for a 5K. I will most likely do this race again next year!

I scheduled a massage also for today and I am feeling good right now and like I need a nap, so off to nap I go!!

Racey Tracy

Congratulations Tracy on finishing first!! That's awesome!!

Congrats Tracy. As you can see from my earlier post I was thinking about you this morning. It has been really windy this past week - I didn't even think about that being a factor for you this morning but I sure it was tough. That is so cool you came in first. Again Congrats!!! The pictures look great - I might have to plan on doing that one next year.

Move out of Tracy's way people, she's gonna run you over at the next race she toes the line. :thumbsup2
