Race for the Cure- Oct 7 @AK

Is anyone doing this?? It is a 5k or a 1mile. We will be at WDW during this time so we wanted to know if anyone was interested.

My brother and I will be there. There is a competitive (chip-timed) 5K, a noncompetitive 5K, and a 1 mile. He's doing the competitive and I'm doing the noncompetitive. We're also doing the Race for the Taste the next day.

We will be there, too. I am doing the non-competitive 5K Race for the Cure, and DH (wfloyd) will do the Race for the Taste. Last year, we did both races, but we don't have a babysitter this year for DS.

Great to hear some of you will be there! Just 2 weeks ago I lost my grandmother after a long long long battle with cancer...which started with breast cancer. This would mean a lot to me.
DH is doing R4Taste and I am considering doing the Race for the Cure. I might only be up to doing the 1mile Fun (I am pregnant), but at least I could be a part of it! DH might do the non competitive. Do you guys know if you get anything?? (i.e. shirts, pin, medal, etc)

Kamy - Congrats on the little one!!! I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I really hope you can do RftC. It is sooooo amazing to see all these cancer survivors with their pink shirts and hats out walking/running. They also have signs that you can wear during the race that say "In Memory of.." and "In Honor of..." for those that lost the battle and those still fighting the battle. My grandmother died of breast cancer, too, but it was before I got to meet her. It's really special to wear the sign in her memory as I'm walking. I can only imagine how special it would be for you! As for the race - last year I did the chip-timed, but I'm pretty sure everyone got the same shirt and medal. There are also great goody bags (usually backpacks from Ford), towels, license plates, etc... lots of breast cancer awareness stuff given out. Hope to see you there!!!

I'm pretty sure DH and I will be doing the non-timed 5K. I'm a slowpoke so I don't want to be in with the serious runners. I expect to be signing us up over the next couple of days.
