I saw this on Disney's website re: RAC:

Unfortunately, some Guests may be selected to check in at the airport and may not be able to use the Resort Airline Check-In service.

Does anyone know why this would be?

We're travelling via SWA and will be staying at GFV. We're using ME.

Have used ME & SWA a few times in the past, but I was never aware that some people are selected to check in at the airport instead...
Is there a method to this madness & is there anything we can do to lessen our chances of this happening?

TIA

The way that is worded it sounds more like a random check TSA or airline policy of some kind. Like they choose some random sample of flyers and make them check in at the airport. I'm thinking that when they key in your info, something comes up on the screen that says "airport checkin required". If that is the case, there would be nothing you could do about it.

I have no idea if that is the case or not, but that's what it sounds like to me.

That happened to me a few years ago. I was at CR for a conference and had changed my flight home from WDW last minute because of a snow storm about to hit the Northeast. I think because of the last minute change and that my ticket was thru a 3rd party travel agency it somehow flagged me! I just had bell services hold my luggage and took it on ME with me, not really that much of an inconvenience.

I've heard the same thing as vicki_c...it basically means you've been flagged by TSA for additional screening. For everything I've read, there is no way to predict it and you won't know until you go down to RAC.

Disney has to say that. There is always a chance you might have to wait until getting to the airport to checkin. This can happen when you are at home, trying to check in on-line. It's kind of like Disney Dining stating that 'your party may be split up' even if your party is 4 or less. It's just covering all possible eventualities.
Not being able to use RAC isn't anything that ever concerns me.

Thank you all for explaining.
I'm glad it won't be much of a problem if we do get "flagged". Was hoping it wasn't because of Early Bird boarding or something. But if we can still use ME, I won't have to worry about it.
Thanks!
