R.I.P Spike 1993-2011

After I had to put my much-loved pug, Dawson (yes, that darling little thing pictured in my avatar) down in January, I can totally relate. In addition to the Rainbow Bridge poem, and other lovely words received from friends, a friend of mine summed up the experience like this: isn't it amazing how you can have so many emotions running through you, but yet, you have absolutely no 'feeling' at all (from being so numb)? And I think that's probably all perfectly normal given the loss of a family member.

You're never ready to say goodbye to a loved one - even when it's inevitable it hurts.
He must have been so well cared for to live to such a great age. The sadness you feel now will hopefully decrease and the happy memories increase. He looked a really cute little fellow.

I'm sat here in tears for you as I know what a hard thing it is to do.

Having pets is probably my favourite thing about being a human. Bella and Boo are the absolute world to me so don't ever let any let you feel silly for missing Spike like you do. To have the unconditional love of someone who couldn't be wooed by words is an amazing thing.

RIP Spike what a loved dog you must of been to have such a long life.

I know my past cats are all being looked after by my Granddad as he loved animals. I'm sure he's given Spike a scratch and a treat or two by now too!

We had to put our dog down and know how hard that is.

They are such a big part of your life and are much more than just a pet.

The pain will pass and you will have lots of happy memories.

I cant believe how old Spike was - that is an amazing age

Im sorry for your loss, its just horrible and so sad when we loose a pet, Its devasting, but im so glad your were with him at the end and your blessed it was a short illness
