Is this where I can come for support with my new endovor?? Am starting tomorrow and am gonna need some helping hands....

Good for you! I recommend cinnamon sticks. They are the same size as cigarettes so you can hold them as you would a cigarette and they will help take care of the feeling of empty hands (especially helpful when driving, for example). Also when you stick them in your mouth and give them a suck, they have a bite of a taste that helps with the oral fixation issue.

Good luck!

My husband is in the same spot right now!! He is eating sunflower seeds and they seem to be helping somewhat. He is also drinking alot of water and juice.

I am so proud of you for doing this. I did it 3 years ago and can't tell you how pleased you will be with yourself when you finally feel you have control. You know all the positives involved so I won't go into those.

I will glady be a support person for you anytime. Just pm me when you are feeling the crunch.

Best of luck. Check back here often everyone is so supportive and they are here all day every day!!!

You can do this! I used peach flavored "Dum Dums" for my "crutch".

It's not going to be easy but you can do this and we are all going to help you!

I can't offer any advice, as I've never smoked. I just want to send you some PD :wizard:****** and wish you the best of luck :sunny:

Katholyn thank you so much for your support. I do love "Dum Dums" so that might be an ideal crutch for me...

I do believe you've come to the RIGHT PLACE!!! ;) I'm so happy for you, and jealous also. I still smoke, and I thought I'd tackle one 'beast' at a time, weight loss first. I soooo hope to be joining you soon! In the mean time, I *WISH* you success, perseverance, and healthier days ahead! ::yes:: :sunny:

Check in often, please!

Good luck! You will do it if you truly want to. I quit many many years ago. The thing that got me through the first couple of weeks when the cravings were the worst was "one day at a time". I had a very hard time accepting I could NEVER have another one... SO I just said to myself, "if I get through today then I can have one tomorrow". Sounds crazy, but worked for me.
My mom just quit about 6months ago after 50 years of smoking. She has multiple health problems made worse by smoking. So I told her she needed to quit so I would still have her around when I am 50!! She quit cold turkey. Says now that smoking stinks :)
You can do it!!!!

WISH is the place to be when you want a healthier lifestyle. Quitting smoking is the best thing you can do for you now. DH and I quit together about 10 years ago. I quit cold turkey (with lollipops as a crutch), and DH used the Nicorette gum. He was a heavy smoker and really needed this support. Everyone is different, so do whatever to break the habit.

Check back often and let us know how you are doing. We all care.

Nancy
