A little off topic, but I wanted the help from my fellow Canadians. I've never tried quinoa, and I was wondering if anyone here has some quick and delicious recipes they'd like to share with me.

I want my kids to eat better things than the prepackaged school snacks, and cereals in the morning. I want them to be healthier!

Suggestions please? :)

My daughter is vegetarian and cooks quite a bit with quinoa. You can find many great recipes online. The one below is one of my favourites, and it would be perfect for lunch boxes as it can be eaten cold. We have subbed different cheeses when we haven't had gruyere on hand. It is delicious and always goes quickly when put out at family gatherings ... most of whom are carnivores! The recipe originated with a blog called leafandgrain.com but when I went to retrieve it for you the recipe wouldn't appear for some reason. It is a great blog with reliable recipes so you might find more quinoa recipes you'd like there.

Not a recipe per se, but Costco sells a quinoa salad dish. Pretty tasty i must say.

We are a vegan family, and I have a totally scrumptious cold quinoa salad recipe. Let me get the kiddos in bed for nap and I will come post it. Yum!

I make a quick salad with quinoa, a little bit or orange juice, and my favourite veggies that taste good cold (water chestnuts, green onions, and baby corn). It's simple yet so tasty.
In fact, I may now make that this weekend. Mmm.

I make a Quinoa Greek salad (tomato, cucumbers, green onion, feta, black olives and Kraft dressing). I love it! My kids will not touch it (even though they eat couscous which is similar in size/shape I haven't gotten it in their mouths!)

I have a Quinoa cookbook on my desk lent to me by a co-worker. There are lots of options for using the flour as well (which would likely be $$)

I bought quinoa for the first time today at The Bulk Barn! I haven't even tried to google it yet so I'm

Go to the Freshii website, I've had the quinoa bowls from them a million times they are amazing and easy to make at home. Basically cook your quinoa per the recipe in the box, add your favorite vegetables raw (like for a salad), then add a dollop of dressing. The cold veggies, with the warm quinoa and the dressing... Mmmmmmmm

For the most part it can be used in place of rice in almost any dish. Pinterest has THOUSANDS of quinoa recipes.

I originally tried quinoa and didn't like it till my neighbor told me that you need to soak/rinse it first. There is a bitter coating that comes off when you do this. Typically I soak it for a few minutes in a fine mesh strainer, rinse and repeat twice before I cook it.

I agree with some of the previous posters that a cold salad with quinoa and your favorite veggies is tasty. I sometimes have it for breakfast, warm, with applesauce, raisins, cinnamon and hemp hearts.

Good luck!
