I have an antique quilt, at least I think it's an antique. It's at least 50yrs old. My grandmother made it. The material is deteriorating and would be hard to fix, so I'd like to make a new top & bottom for it and put the old quilt inside. I would assume that machine washing would be a bad idea. 
How do I go about cleaning the old quilt and quilting the new one?
