Quiet studios at Poly?

I've seen several posts about noise at the Poly (boat horns, landscaping, etc.). I would love to stay there and would be so happy if I can get it at 7months :) but am just a bit concerned about the noise as we are light sleepers. I'm wondering if anyone has stayed in a specific studio or location you found to be quiet? We would be booking a standard view, if we are lucky enough to! Thank you!

Cynic says: Poly is not built to be quiet. The walls are really thin. Hallway and neighbor noise carries.

The boat horns and "landscaping" noise seem to be almost entirely about the lake view category. Book a standard view and you should be fine most anywhere (once the construction is completed).

We had a standard view in Tokeleau this past October. I was very concerned about the ferry boat horns that I had read about as I tend to be a light sleeper. Didn't have any boat horn issues at all. REALLY enjoyed our Poly stay.. can't wait to return this May!:dance3:

I've never found the walls at the Poly to be thinner than any other resort. Perhaps I've been lucky with quiet neighbors, but I'm talking about at least 10 different rooms. I've stayed in Moorea a few times, both lake side and garden view, and have never been bothered by boat horns, and I'm a very light sleeper.

That said, I do sleep with ear plugs or a sound machine, which makes a tremendous difference. I did turn off the sound machine one morning and realized it had been masking the sound of a leaf blower or construction of some kind. Might a sound machine be a possibility for you?

Poly and OKW are older resorts with thin walls and not much noise insulation. The newer resorts seem to be quieter.

Thanks, everyone. I guess I won't worry too much about it since we'd be booking standard view and although we've been really lucky with neighbor and hallway noise at other dvc resorts, that really could happen anywhere. Just really excited at the possibility of finally staying at Poly (a lifelong dream...)

Just returned from 9 nine day stay at Poly- Tokelau 2913- Building 9- 2nd floor- room 13. The management refers to them as building numbers, not by names. That's how I figured out that Tokelau is building 9. This room is 1 room away from end of building closest to water- great view of the beach and the GF.
Though this room has these views, it is still considered to be standard/non-lake view.

Did hear the water ferry horn over to MK occasionally. Heard no noise from below, above or to the sides except for a very low shower noise from above on 1 day. And since these rooms were all redone when converted to DVC, I am sure extra noise padding was added as well.
The glass balcony/patio doors are extremely thick.
There was some sound from outside, but nothing that was worrisome.

Added 100 points for Poly in September having been a member for 23 yrs at DVC. Did this to get 11 mo. window at Poly.
