Quiet resturants?

My mother is bothered by noise and if a resturant is loud she has a terrible time relaxing and eating there. Anyone have any good ideas of places to eat dinners? A few on the expensive side and few just normal sit downs.

We did Rain Forest last year and we loved it but I just know that the noise level would disturb my mom.

Citricos, Le Bistro, Jiko, Artist Point and Yachtsman Steakhouse have been quiet in our experiences at each.

A couple of more moderate priced restaurants that are quiet are Grand Floridian Cafe and Yacht Club Galley. Both serve B,L&D. Kona Cafe is quiet at lunch and is usually quiet early in the am before the crowds start to build for the character breakfast next door at 'Ohana. Also there is the sound of water so if that would bother her it would not be a good choice. As good as it is for dinner, it might not be the best choice for that meal again due to the crowds at 'Ohana.

If you will have a car, there is a very nice restaurant at the Osprey Ridge and Eagle Pines Golf courses called the Sand Trap Bar and Grill. It serves breakfast and lunch as well as sandwiches and salad until around 5 or 6pm.

I will be interested to what people have to say. My first thought when I read this was " Ha!!! - good luck!". I find most restaurants extremely noisy especially at dinner time.

We usually order room service or try to eat earlyish before the crowds really get big. At the GF you can order pool-side "room service". This may be the case at some of the other deluxe resorts - just inquire at guest services. There are 2 restaurants I can think of that are not too bad for noise: Columbia Harbor House - go upstairs to one of the little rooms and Norway's Akershus always seems to be pretty quiet even when it is full. Akershus will be changing to character meals in April but I see by your counter that you will be going soon so it will be fine. Oh and there is also the counter-service place at Japan. You can eat outside in a pleasant little rock garden and it is not as crowded as it would be if it had a view of the fireworks like the Rose and Crown and the Mexican counter-service place.

We ate at Marrakesh in Morrocco at Epcot. If you eat before the show it is very quiet. It's back off the main path away from the chaos...they have a nightly belly-dancing show though. So you would want to find out the time (I think it's at 7) and avoid this if you are wanting quiet. That part is not quiet.

Thanks for all the great options! I will have to print the list and take it with me.

She is getting old and finally showing her age somewhere between 90 - 95 years. She keeps her real age a secret! It just seems that lately she gets some kind of sensory overload in noisy resturants. Although she always was one for atmosphere and she might really like the belly dancing! :rotfl: I know my dad and DH would like it! Hmmmmmm... :teeth:

Noise on attractions does not seem to bother her. She can't wait to ride Tower of Terror again! :earseek: But when she is eating she wants to be able to have and hear conversation and if it is too noisy for her she gets upset and just wants to leave and forget the meal!

Thanks again for all the great ideas and keep them coming! :cheer2:

The Matsu No Ma Lounge in Japan (Epcot WS, of course) is the quietest restaurant I've found at WDW. I can't remember the entire menu, but they had excellent tempura and rice with miso soup. It's in the very front of the Japan building, near the other restaurants. I'm not sure if it's so quiet because it's relatively unnoticed, or if it's because of the innate tranquility of Japanese culture, but it's wonderfully relaxing. Some windows offer a beautiful view of the rock garden, as well.

Well-quiet at a Disney restaurant is a relative term. And--as we found out ourselves at the Blue Zoo last trip--kids aren't the only ones making noise!!
But over the years we've found the most "adult friendly" places to be V&A, Citricos, Palio, and Bistro D Paris. And even then (with V&A being the exception) you are likely to find kids.
Should add that Wolfgang Pucks (upstairs) had few kids, but the overall noise level was pretty high anyway. At Blue Zoo, tho there were few kids, there was a convention of some sort at the Dolphin, and at the Zoo there were many tables of 6-8-10 adults. The noise level was high.
