Quiet restaurant? Is there such a thing?

My family are going to WDW for the second time next year. We go out to eat often at table service places since we like to relax and really enjoy our meal. The only issue I had during our first visit was that the restaurants were incredibly loud. Are there any that are more quieter than others? The only one that I found very pleasant was Jiko (loved it!) but I want to try other places. We also went to California Grill, Garden Grill and Hollywood Brown Derby. We will be staying near the Boardwalk area and want to stay in that general area along with Epcot.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!! Thanks!

Sci Fi is the quietest restaurant we have ever dined at in WDW

Runner up is Grand Floridian Cafe and the Wave

I have found most to be on the noisier side. Even Cali grill was loud. Artist point and Yachtsman Steakhouse were quieter

Ask for the wine room at the California Grill when you check-in - separate area behind glass (faces Wilderness Lodge, not MK). It was a bit more quiet than the main dining room. They prefer not to seat children in this area.

Try off times like early dinners at the resort hotels, they tend to be more quiet. I second SciFi for being quiet, and Artist Point. An early lunch or dinner at Coral Reef in Epcot is quiet too.

When we were there last year, Yachtsman Steakhouse was the quietest....it had a good crowd, but the noise level was significantly better than any other restuarant we dined....holding a conversation was easy-peasy, not trying to compete with background noise!

Do not do Coral Reef; one of the noisiest places on the planet.

Quieter in Epcot area would be Yachtsmen Steakhouse, Bistro de Paris (not on dining plan and no children's menu) and most of the place at the Swan or Dolphin hotels (not on dining plan, not usually packed to the rafters and generally more adult clientele).

Unfortunately, the dining plan restuarants are usually full which means they are louder.

Thank you for the suggestions! We will not be doing the dining plan so it doesn't matter if the restaurant caters to this or not.
We will most likely be staying at the YC so I think I will give Yachtsman's Steakhouse a try.

This is a great tip! I loved the restaurant as we were able to see the fireworks and enjoy the food. My mom wants to go back but I was hesitant because of the noise level. Now, I don't have an excuse!!

The wave was pretty quiet (we ate early too which I am sure helped). The food was okay. My Grandma LOVED it.

Although our no doubt loudest meal last year was a Shulas (!). And we ate at Whispering Canyon cafe plus sat through two Oktoberfest shows at Biergarten. We had the bad fortune to book Shulas during a Gartner conference, and got seated in a room with one party of fourteen or so, and another of ten or so - both drinking on expense accounts. (It was our 'not romantic at all romantic getaway meal while my mother watched our children').

Yelling for ketchup was a positive comparison.

Yahtsmen Steakhouse
Captain's Grill at the Yacht Club
Sci Fi (everybody is watching the movies, so you hear the movie sound but not much at all in the way of chatter or kids crying)
Tokyo Dining (not to be confused with Tepan Edo)
Maya Grill at CSR
Olivia's at Old Key West but only the outdoor eating
Turf Club. Hands down the quietest meal I have ever eaten at WDW. They have indoor and outdoor, both have always been quiet for us. I love that place!

Avoid at all costs:
Buffets, esp Boma
Kona Cafe

If you go early enough, i.e., get there as soon as they open for dinner, Ft. Wilderness is quiet.

Surprisingly, early dinner at the ASMu foodcourt was uncrowded and pretty quiet. The place is cavernous and I almost always found a peaceful corner alone. Believe me, nobody is harsher than I when it comes to brats and their handlers, but my experiences at the food court were generally positive.

Bluezoo at the Dolphin was very quiet (only one child, around 12 years old was there when we dined) and it was a wonderful meal as well.:goodvibes

If you go anywhere during peak dinner hours it will tend to be noisy, but our quietest meals have come at:

Il Mulino
bluezoo
Sci Fi

As far as cuisine - let's just say one of these things is not like the other. Il Mulino is my choice for best Italian on property. bluezoo is my choice for best seafood. SciFi is---ummmm-----fun.

Quietest is Victoria and Albert's.

Next would be Bistro de Paris upstairs at France. They do not have a children's menu and do not encourage bringing children as your meal will take quite a while.

On a recent trip to Bistro there was a family which got seated about the same time as my group with two small children; one about two and the other about five. They had a hard time keeping the kids quiet, but thankfully they ate quickly and got out even before we received our entrees.

But Bistro is a place you pace yourself on a 2-2½ hour dining; it is not eat and run. (Last time I went we were a group of six and were there about 3¼ hours and had to be escorted out of the park as the last Guests in the park.)
