Quiet Pool question

We're staying at POP this August.

What exactly are the rules on the regular pool vs quiet pool?

Does quiet pool mean no kids are allowed? Do people follow this?

We're hoping to stay in the 50's, along with my grandparents, and our DS.

We definatly want to follow the rules with DS, and I don't know what the guidelines are really. If quiet just means calm, we might rather have him in there, so it's not a whole lot of insanity, and, of course, if he gets upset/loud, we'd bring him back to the room. But if quiet means no kids, then we'll bring him to the normal pool. Also, we're hoping quiet maybe means no middle of the night swimming, for our sleeping's sake.

I'm not aware of any special rules other than the normal ones for all of the pools. The quiet pools don't have lifeguards and it's implied that guests should be quieter and calmer than at the main pools. I've taken my kids to quiet pools with no problems. A lot of times, we were the only ones there. :)

Actually I don't even think that it is implied you have to be "quiet" at these pools. They have the nickname of "quiet" pools because they do not have elaborate theming, slides or any thing else that would appeal to kids, which in turn makes them quieter and more relaxed than the themed pools that have waterfalls, slides, beaches, etc.

In December when I stayed at the Polynesian I went to see the quiet pool and while it was not as crowded as the Volcano pool, there were a few families there just enjoying themselves.

I don't think POP has a quiet pool. A quiet pool is a pool with no slide, basically. None of the value resorts have slides.
I know that a lot of people, especially adults, get a bit miffed when they sit out at a 'quiet pool' at a deluxe and there are kids there, being kids. They keep saying 'well, it's supposed to be a quiet pool' but that doesn't mean no kids. It's simply the lack of a slide.
I have used all three pools at POP..not one of them is remotely 'quiet'..not in any sense of the word. If I had to choose one pool that was the least busy, it would be the computer pool, over by the 80's/90's section. It seems to be less 'themed' so fewer people head there. I think your family will love the pool by 50's...it's a ton of fun.

We (cast memebers) are actually not supposed to refer to them as quiet pools anymore- but rather leisure pools. The term quiet was taken to the extreme by some and that wasn't the original intent.

The two smaller pools have no lifeguards and not as many people. Our room faced the kiddie pool this year and it was horrible, kids screaming until 1:00 am! I finally called the front desk (the pool closes at 12:00). Then every morning at 7:00 a couple with their 4 year old met their parents in front of our door, the kid would be screaming for them to hurry! Then the one morning they sleep in or left? Another parent group with grandparents slammed the door on the security lock (so they wouldn't have to use the card to enter the room) they went back and forth between the two rooms (4 doors apart) and slammed the door 16 times!!! We counted!!! Decided we really didn't like the POP as well as we thought. The cooking smells were awful, people just have no consideration. We stayed at the park until 2:00 am one night and I told DD to keep quiet, DH wanted to slam the door a few times!!!;)

Is there really no lifeguard? I could have sworn that I have seen one before.

In my opinion, I just think it means it's not the feature pool. I certainly would not expect kids to be quiet there. Any time I have used one, it's been pretty empty because the families seem to want the volcano, the slide, etc. so the result has been it's been quiet compared to the big pool. I would hate to see a parent "shush" a kid in a pool; pools are for fun, and fun = noise!! Of course, manners are expected.

(I am a granny who loves to hear kids have fun!)
