Is there such a thing? We have been to Chef Mickey's and Hollywood and Vine, but both were outrageously chaotic!!! I am looking for something that will slow us down, and be a break from the park. Does this exist for a character meal, or should we just avoid the characters and go for another type of dining? i have a 6yo girl and a 4 yo boy.:scratchin

Akershus in Norway is a princess meal.

Nowhere near as loud and chaotic as Chef's and hollywood n vine.
It feels intimate because there is a few small rooms where you
sit....not one giant room.

Chef Mickey's is definitely one of the most chaotic character meals in Disney.... when we're looking for something quieter, we usually pick either Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner, or 1900 Park Fair for breakfast. Liberty Tree ends up less chaotic because its a sit down meal and so you don't have people constantly moving to buffet lines, and there are several rooms so its not one large open restaurant. 1900 Park Fair can be busy, but its not usually loud or hectic, at least in my experience.

We've always found LTT to be on the quiet side...

except the time we were there (party of 8) on my MIL's b-day. I had pre-ordered a cake & the characters were making quite a fuss...it was like a party with the hostess throwing Mickey confetti around!

Garden Grill is very laid back charcter meal.

The quietest character meal that we've experienced is at the Garden Grill in the Land pavilion. Maybe it's due to the individual booths, or the fact that it revolves :confused3 , but it doesn't seem to have that frenetic atmosphere that most of the open TS places have. :thumbsup2 The food is served family-style and it's an all-you-can-eat menu. :goodvibes

Garden Grill is a pretty quiet/calm character meal. Akershus is another one that's not too crazy like Chef Mickeys. For breakfast, Ohana was not too bad either.

garden grill is our favorite character meal by far! it is so relaxed and relaxing... a true break from the madness! the high backed booths keep you from seeing/hearing other guests, there's great interaction/one-on-one time w/the characters, the food is very good, it's served family style so once you sit you stay seated/no up/down thing, etc... i strongly recommend it! :)

We did not have a booth at Garden Grill so if you would like that maybe put that on your reservation Just an FYI

Cape May Breakfast, we usually go there early, right after they open at 7:30, and the place is just about empty...you have all the characters to yourself and the food is very good. We went 2 weeks ago but at 10am and the place was a madhouse!

I agree with what the others have said - Garden Grill and LTT are relatively calm.

Akershus seemed quite calm and 1900 pretty calm too. Neither even come close to Chef Mickey's frenetic environment.

My first choice would be LTT. It is a sit down restaurant where the food is served family style. There are no screaming, loud kids running around trying to get their favorite character's autograph because the character connection there is just awesome. When we went a couple of years ago, we went for dinner and it was such a nice way for us to relax our feet while being able to see our favorite characters at the same time. The other place I would suggest would be Akershus. The Princesses were wonderful making sure that our 2 DDs got pics and autographs with them and no one was loud or obnoxious there either. But if you were to go there, I would definately go for breakfast, the food was great.

Liberty Tree Tavern is a very mellow character dinner. Garden Grill was a bit peppier that LTT. Both places are all you can eat, served family style. Crystal Palace was not rowdy, it just seems large and bright. It is by far our favorite. :thumbsup2 The self-serve buffet is full of choices and the characters are gorgeous!

Crystal Palace is not the place to go if you want a quiet character meal. I agree that Cape May Cafe was relatively quiet when we went around 10:00.

Garden Grill was pretty quiet when we went, much less chaotic than Donalds and what we seen of Chef Mickeys.

Cape May is usually quiet, but then again we usually go quite early. It's just my wife and I, so even in those rare hectic times that we've been there, we still enjoy watching the character interaction.

Garden Grill is very laid back charcter meal.

I also agree. This is probably one of the most relaxing character meals in WDW and it's a good one too. Food is good and the character interaction is good as well. I recommend this one especially if you'd like to escape some of the chaos of the parks yet still actually be in the park.:thumbsup2
