Just a quick rundown of our weekend in London for the Pixar Exibition.
We flew with BMI and that went fine, though I had to laugh when I went to check in on line at exactly 24 hours ahead... the system had given us the very back seats in the plane...... and the rest of the seats were empty
!!! Soon changed that to exit row and had a bit of extra room.
We stayed at the Chancery Court hotel on High Holborn. Very swish and they had big bowls of tobelorone bites in all flavours on the reception desk to snack on... I only had a couple... honest
Room was ready on arrival at 11.00 which was great, nice room so we were happy. (I got a good rate through work at GBP 108 per night including breakfast - which was good as breakfast was 21 GBP
it was good, freshly cooked and I had smoked salmon & asparagus with scrambled eggs, but 21 quid is a bit ridiculous!!)
Friday we spent shopping, a bit of a let down as Regent Street was "being refurbished for your future enjoyment" so there went my trip to Debenhams and the Disney Store
Saturday it was of to do our culture vulture bit
The Pixar exhibition at the Science Museum first. It was good but not great, there was a lot of artwork but not so much on the making of the films, at least not much that isn't on the DVD's as far as I could see. They were showing all the shorts, including one on a unicycle that I couldn't remember and they had quite a bit of stuff on Cars.
The best thing was a huge 3d Zoeotrope, which was worth the price of admission alone as it had the little green men and Wheezy the penguin!! Got a nice t-shirt but DH couldn't see anything he fancied.
Looked around the SciMu a bit and then went next door to the Natural History which was great fun and I couldn't remember a bit of it, which isn't strange as I hadn't been there for about 30 years!
Finished off the day with a Japanese meal which was very nice although we were a bit rushed through it.
Sunday we went down to the Embankment and watched the London marathon which was fantastic. The atmosphere is amazing and I found myself tearing up evertime someone had a shirt with a message on it like "this one's for you dad"
Finished off with a quick trip around the National Gallery and then back to Heathrow.
The flight back was packed full and delayed on take of but we made up and were home quickly. Just time to enjoy MandyMouse's wonderful photo's in the quiz and off to bed.
