Quickest ways from point to point?

Private car would be best in either case.

There are buses that run from park to park-- not a horrible option.

From MGM to DTD, you have to transfer at a resort; BWV is the shortest walk, or the Swan is the closest by boat.

From AK to Epcot, take a resort bus to Yacht & Beach Club. You can walk over to the entrance on the World Showcase side.

Most definitely find a bus to DTD because you will not find a parking place anywhere--especially in the evening on the weekend! :moped:

from MGM take a bus from either Saratoga Springs or Old Key West. There is a boat at these resorts that go right into DTD. I stayed at OKW in June and it was a great ride.

From AK to EPCOT I would take a bus to Beach Club or Boardwalk and then walk over. It would be the quickest way to go

Can anyone tell me the quickest way from AK to Epcot?
Also from MGM to DTD?
Thanks much? :moped:

The park-to-park direct bus will be faster from AK to Epcot's front gate.
The bus from AK to Boardwalk or Yacht and Beach Club (then walk or boat to Epcot will be closer (but not much faster) to Epcot's International Gateway entrance and the side of WS with France, UK and Canada.

MGM to DTD: Bus from MGM to Coronado Springs, then bus from that resort to DTD, is another way in addition to those others mentioned (and might be a bit faster... might be.)

From AK to Epcot:
1) Drive yourself - 5 minutes to get car+5 minutes to drive+5 minutes to park and get to the gates=15 minutes
2) Bus - 15 minutes wait+10 minutes loading time+5 minute ride=30 minutes

From MGM to DTD:
1) Drive yourself - 5 minutes to get car+10-12 minute drive+10 minutes to find a parking place=25-27 minutes

2) Take a boat to an Epcot resort then bus to DTD - 10-15 minutes to wait for boat, 5 minutes load time, 5-8 minute travel time, 5 minutes to walk to bus stop, 15 minute to wait for bus, 5 minutes load time, 10-12 minute travel time=50-60 minutes

That's all very nice, but many WDW guests don't bother with a car.
I've done it both ways (several times).

I never rent a car at WDW unless I'm driving to the coast or other out-of-town location.
The rental car also brings its own set of expenses and hassles, two of which involve pick-up and return at the airport.
But if others prefer driving, that's cool.

Robo ... What park-to-park bus? I wasn't aware you could take a bus from one park to another. If so, where do we board these buses, say to get from AK to Epcot, or MK to MGM?

That's a very nice sentiment, but even though everybody knows I'm a great advocate of renting a car at WDW, I wasn't trying to convince anybody, I was simply answeing the OPs question about the fastest way to get from one place to another.

The fastest way is to drive yourself, but since not everybody has a car at WDW, I also listed the second-fastest ways to get between the places in question using the WDW transportation system.

Yes, there is park-to-park transportation between all of the WDW theme parks.

The park busses at MK are not located with the resort busses, they are out at the TTC. Of course, to get to Epcot from MK, you use the monorail instead of the bus.

The park buses at the other parks are located near the resort busses. Look for the signs when you get there; they're easy to find.

Here's the complete breakdown of park-to-park transportation:

MK:
To Epcot - monorail (from TTC)
To MGM - Bus (at TTC)
To AK - Bus (at TTC)

Epcot:
To MK - Monorail (at front entrance)
To MGM - boat or walking path (from International Gateway)
To AK - Bus (at front entrance)

MGM:
To MK - Bus (to right of entrance as you leave)
To Epcot - Boat or walk (to left of entrance as you leave)
To AK - Bus (to right of entrance as you leave)

AK:
To all other parks - Bus (to right of entrance as you leave)

Downtown Disney:
No direct transportation is provided between Downtown Disney and the 4 theme parks (to prevent people from using up all the parking spaces at DTD to skip the daily parking fee at the parks).

I don't think there are any busses going from park to park, and since I never split a day between two or more parks, I've never given it much thought.

But (assuming you aren't driving your own car), I guess the FASTEST way to get from park to park would be to take a taxicab.

Enjoy.

Dixie Landings (POR) & Port Orleans (FQ) also have boats to DTD

There are direct buses between all parks.
Except there is MONORAIL service between Epcot and TTC.
And the buses going between all other parks and MK, terminate at TTC.

These direct connections are how guests may "Hop" between the parks.

I've had others doubt that these buses existed so I thought of something that "EVERYONE" has heard at WDW for years that actually TALKS about the BUS SERVICE between MK/TTC and the other parks.

Its the MONORAIL SPIEL (don't know many WDW guests who have not heard THAT). It does change, but not very often, so it reflects something that is virtually a "constant," if there is such a thing at WDW.

Here's the link to hear it.

http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/sounds/MonorailFull.mp3

You can drag the cursor to near the end (the last 15% or so of the timeline) to hear the part that "saved my brain" in this matter...

Our happy announcer says,
"Ladies and gentlemen, we are approaching the Transportation and Ticket Center. This includes all sections of the Magic Kingdom car and bus parking lot. If you are traveling to Epcot, please exit here and board the monorail at the connecting monorail station.
SEPARATE BUS TRANSPORTATION IS PROVIDED TO DISNEY'S ANIMAL KINGDOM, THE DISNEY-MGM STUDIOS..."

This is the spiel for the "Express Monorail" but a very similar script is played on the "Resort Monorail" for TTC.

Thanks for all the info. Time is limited this trip and we are trying to squeeze in as much as possible. We are definately Getting our $$ worth with the park hopper option. :moped: :thumbsup2

For those that need proof that there are park to park busses:

This is the sign at the AK bus depot taken in May of this year. The numbers are the bus stop numbers.

AK_bus_depot_sign

There is a sign similar to this at Epcot and MGM.

I stand corrected. There ARE busses from park to park. That's what I get for not paying attention. As I mentioned earlier, I never jump from park to park, so I guess that's why I didn't pay said attention.

And, if I didn't have enough time at Walt Disney World to devote at least a full day to each of the four parks, I probably would want to visit two parks in one day.

Actually, I usually plan my solo trips to WDW to allow for at least one day for each park. It always seemed to me that hopping from park to park in the same day would use up time that I could better use doing attractions that I might otherwise not have time for.

But this site is great, and I learn something more about WDW almost every time I log on.

Thanks for the Info.

I was just there last week and we had no problem finding parking the two nights we went there. I have also been Easter week and Christmas and found parking. After several bad expeiences with Buses to DTD, we always drive.
