I did it this morning, 6/10/14 and was the third one in line! So this strategy worked for me on an EMH day.
I walked from DLH to the main gates, as I already saw a long line at the Monorail at 6:30 am (EMH started at 7 am today, with regular 8 am opening). Plus, I've read here that the Monorail doesn't always get you there before rope drop. I was at the security gate at 6:40.
I went to stand in line at gate 14/15, as it was a slightly shorter line, but ultimately it was the "wrong decision" as it moved the slowest. Sadly, we only had 1 CM station staffed at gate 14 so gate 15 was empty, whereas other gates to my left had both stations staffed. So while I was 13th in line, my line went twice as slow as the others since we only had 1 CM. I also ended up behind a family who hadn't been in the park yet so they all had to have their photos taken and sign their tickets.
When I finally got in, I was probably behind 100+ people already in the park. Still, I jogged/sped walk through the tunnel on the left, slipping by many families pushing huge strollers, slowed down when I saw CM on Main Street (who was telling everyone to stop running!). I was also keeping an eye out for CMs with the Frozen sign, as I had read on here that they started the line at the Partners statue and walked folks in. Not today! The first CM with a Frozen sign that I saw was at the castle who just said, "If you're looking for the Frozen M&G, stay to the left."
Hope this helps!
