Quickest way buy tickets and link in MDE

My husband will be joining us for 2-3 days during spring break. My son and I are AP holders but he needs tickets. I'll probably get him a two day ticket so most likely will buy direct from Disney since I don't know of anyone with discounted 2-day hoppers. If I purchase direct at Disney.com and have them sent, so we can skip the line at will-call, how soon can I link them to him in MDE? Do I have to wait until the tickets arrive? Should I set him up an MDE account of his own then buy the tickets with his account? What is easiest and quickest so I can get his FP+ set up.

By the way we are staying onsite and he is on the reservation. When I asked him what color MB he wanted he said "I don't need a MB"...I told him it was his room key too and he rolled his eyes. I'm thinking I better not ask him what rides he wants to ride and when, lol, I'll just set it up. He'll think I'm crazy! Just say "yes dear" and I'll handle it

Order from Disney, and designate the tickets as "Will Call" pickup.
You will then be able to link the ticket order number to your MyDisneyExperience account and make advance FP+ reservations.

BTW, he does NOT have to use a MagicBand, but can use a flat RFID plastic ticket, instead.
(He'll be sent a MB, but he doesn't have to use it... just ask for the flat RFID card at the resort.)

I think I should make him wear the MB. For whatever reason this was his reaction, . Haha! Or I suppose I can ask for a ticket and be nice.
