I was there from 6/7 - 6/14 . Awesome weather, although towards the end of the week it got really humid. It drizzled maybe once the entire trip.
Resort: Carribean Beach Resort
I stayed at the Carribean Beach Resort room 1463 which is in Barbados. Resort is very beautiful and we had a fortunate location with our room. We were close to a bus stop, close to the customs house and about a 5 min walk from the food court. We waited for a bus for more than 15 min only 1 time and it was the bus to the Magic Kingdom right before our California Grill reservation - close one. The food was decent at Old Port Royale, wasn't bad - typical moderate resort food.
Food:
Our first meal was Le Cellier - I had the Filet Mignon with Cream cheese mashed potatoes - it was AWESOME. Best mashed potatoes I've ever had.
Coral Reef - We sat right next to the tank - awesome view. I got lobset raviolios - they were OK nothing special - Girlfriend got a chicken ceasar salad - awful - it was 3 large leafs of lettuce, uncut , with a piece of grilled chicken on top of it - uncut. Probably wouldnt go back.
Ohana's - Awesome - I was surpised when we arrived at our table to have a view of the castle - seated right next to the window. The coconut / pineapple bread is very good and the chicken wings were awesome. I didn't care too much for the steak / pork but the turkey was good. The desert was very good - I think it was some banana cake with ice cream and a banana syrup on it? Very delicious.
Chef Mickeys - Character breakfast - I've done this many times - always solid - good buffet
Teppan Edo - I got the steak / chicken combo - was pretty good - I'm not a big japanese lover so I thought the food was decent.
Mama Melrose - Girlfiend got the pizza - I got some pasta dish with chicken on it that our server recommended. Overall the food was pretty good.
Sci - Fi - Very cool atmosphere - I enjoyed my dinner. I got the italian grilled chicken sandwhich. We also got milkshakes and was very disappointed. They were very think and didn't taste that great.
California Grill - Amazing view. Once again we got very lucky and they had a window seat available. We arrived at our table and as we sat down they opened up the blinds ( about 8:30 ) and we probably had the best seat in the house. We were to the far right in the corner with a 135 degree angle. We started off with the 3 cheese flat bread, probably my favorite dish here, then I had the sonoma ravioli with goat cheese, I thought it had a weird taste and it could have been a little too fancy for my blood. For my main course I had a the filet of beef with mashed potatoes - very good but I still enjoyed my steak at Le Cellier better. My girlfriend got the vegtable ravioli's for her main course. She enjoyed them very much. Overall a great meal.
Hoop de Doo Revue - Food was surprisingly good. The fried chicken was delicious along with the mashed potatoes. Ribs were a little dry. Overall a good experience though. Entertaining show aswell.
Parks:
We arrived at rope drop for Hollywood Studios - we were probably 5 people behind the cast members approaching Toy Story Mania so we were able to get a 10:05 AM fast pass. And we rode it later around 7 PM. It was my first time riding it and I was very impressed and it was a very cool ride.
We saw fantasmic thursday night and sat in the 2nd row. It was my second time seeing fantasmic. It was just as good as the first time, awesome show. I also saw spectro magic for the first time, very cool parade.
Over all I had a great time and Le Cellier's mashed potatoes really makes me want to go back!
Tips:
If you are considering Carribean Beach - be prepared to walk a bit. Over all it was a pleasant stay at CBR but I might consider trying another resort a bit smaller.
It was definitly a benifit to wake up early do as much as you can till 1:00 - 2:00 PM and then take a break. Go to the pool, see a show, slow down. Then go back around 6 or 7.
We had water delivered to our room. But I ordered it too late. I ordered it on Saturday and we left on Sunday. The water didnt arrive until wednesday. In addition, I didnt even realize it was delivered until I called the front desk to ask if I had a package. They called and left me a voice mail on our room phone to notify I had a package on wednesday but I never checked it. So, if you are ordering water, Order it about 3 days before you leave.
But most importantly, this website helped me out with having such a great trip. Thanks disboards!
