hi everyone! With bugs land leaving at the end of the summer I was thinking I might take just my youngest for a 2 maybe 3 day trip (were still doing our annual 5 day park trip later this year I think) because I just love that area (and of course what a great excuse haha). However since were still taking our normal yearly trip I’m trying to 1- do this one on the cheap a little 2- find a time this summer when it’s not insanely crowded and not insanely hot (we kinda melted at mid-80’s last winter lol). Any advice on 1- which one of the hotels across the street (we usually stay at BWPPI- so that general area) that may be nice but a little less pricey? We don’t need breakfast just a comfy bed, clean and close walk. 2- when exactly this summer I should start looking date wise? We don’t need to go any certain time like weekends but would like to avoid maybe huge huge crowds and grad nights (we go early Dec so we get mid-high crowds). We can go any time from mid-may to the end of the summer. It’ll just be me and my 3 year old to say goodbye to bugs land and enjoy the parks, so any help on what dates to zero in on would be great since I’m only used to holiday crowd dates- it’s all a bit confusing for me going in the summer lol (I’ve tried to look at historical crowd levels, tp, other posts, but just some personal advice would really be appreciated!) edited to ask- any thoughts on 7/12-13 (Thursday-Friday)

Are you interested in seeing Pixar Pier? That opens June 23rd, so visiting after that would let you visit without most of the construction that is currently going on in DCA. (There will still be a little bit of construction since Jesse's carousel will open next year.) Can you take ART? That would open up your hotel options and lower the rates, too. Our friends really like the Motel 6 (by the Residence Inn Maingate) for quick, inexpensive trips with the kids. Do a search for this year's Grad Night dates -- they were published a while ago.
