Quick Trip in October

My husband and I have booked a flight to San Diego Oct 15 - 19. He's not a Disney fan (goes anyway just thinks it costs too much) but has agreed that we are too close to not go to DL for one day and two nights. I didn't even have to beg. :)

I plan on checking out all the information on this forum but just wanted to pass this info along to you to see what you might say. This is our first trip to DL, I've been to WDW four times and my DH has been three. I don't want to go commando, just take it easy and see what we see.

We plan to stay on site or rather I plan on us to stay on site. We arrive in SD about 8:00 am on Tuesday the 15th barring any flight changes by the airline and once we pick up our rental car we're heading to DL. We will stay two nights and head back to SD on Thursday. Should we have to cancel our trip hotel rooms are completely refundable correct?

I noticed that there is a Halloween party at DCA on the 15th. Right now it's slightly cheaper to buy a party ticket than to buy a park ticket for DL that night. I'm assuming DL will be more crowded because of the party but I can't purchase tickets until we get closer so I guess I will have to wing this. My DH is not a fan of really large crowds and I'm hoping that since we are going mid week it will be a little less attended in both parks whichever one we end up in.

I plan on getting a park hopper for Wednesday. I don't want to be confined in one park since we are leaving the next morning.

Just to make sure I’m understanding you right, are you considering a party ticket for the 15th and then a hopper for Wednesday the 16th? I know you said you’d wait to buy tickets, but the parties are selling out, so I’d grab those soon if you’re wanting to go... just keep in mind that those tickets are non-refundable.

Mid-October has become one of the busiest times at Disneyland - you can still have fun, but you should be prepared for some serious crowds. Parkhoppers and Maxpass will help you make the most of a one-day (or 1.5 days) trip!

Yes, I am considering a party ticket on the 15th or a DL ticket for that day. My elderly mom lives with us and while we have a trip planned it could be canceled depending on her health. That's why I can't purchase tickets until closer to our trip. We have to be real flexible in our life right now.

Since you are staying on site, you may be able to get a party ticket the early morning of the party at the front desk.
