Quick Trip…Day 2

Me –Sonya
DH –Bill
DD9- Amanda
DS6- Billy

Day 2 Friday May 31st

Well, we had Mickey call to wake us up at 7am and DD9 answered the call. Next we tried to wake Billy. Well he wanted no part of getting up this morning. Suffice to say we had a terrible time getting both kids up and ready this morning and by the time we left the room everybody was grumpy! You would think we were taking them to the dentist, not Walt Disney World.

The original plan was MK in the morning with PSs at LTT for lunch at 11:30am so we skipped breakfast. Then it was on to Epcot for dinner at Tepanyaki in Japan, PSs for 6pm.

Well, we got to the bus stop, still grumpy and whiny, and waited for our bus. Well, the first bus to come along was going to Epcot so we decided to hop on that one instead and reverse our plans. By the time we pulled up to Epcot, everybody was starting to get in mood and the day was looking brighter.

1st to spaceship earth, next over to guest services to secure PSs for lunch at Teppanyaki and on to innovations. I just don’t like innovations, but I am outvoted, as the rest of the crew loves to mess around in here. While in Innovations, a CM tells me that soft openings are going on at Imagination for the new Figment ride. We decide to head over there and the CMs in this area are practically begging people to go on this ride…no line at all. Well we rode it and were pleased with Figment’s role in the ride and the whole concept although personally I miss that dream catcher guy and his flying ship but overall a nice ride. I think it could be longer though. Well we continued to wander around Epcot taking in attractions here and there and then began heading towards Japan for lunch.

We stopped at each kidcot station and the kids really enjoyed doing the mask thing and getting a new part for the mask at each country. What a great way to interest your kids in checking out each country! We had planned to buy one of those passports to get stamped in each country but it wasn’t necessary with the masks as they stamp the handle in each country.

We timed it well and arrived at Japan right on time. We were completely unimpressed with the Teppanyaki restaurant. We have a Japanese Steakhouse near our home, which the kids absolutely love, which was why I picked this restaurant. Well, although it wasn’t what I would call terrible, it wasn’t very good either. We all agreed that we were still hungry after lunch and none of us liked the sticky white rice they brought out in bowls. At our place near home, they make fried rice on the table, which is much better! Also, the food had a slightly burned taste to it, and not much seasoning. We won’t eat here again.

We continued our circle of countries and we really enjoyed the American Adventure. The auto animatronics were soooo realistic. Billy fell asleep around 1929 but the rest of us really liked this attraction. We continued wandering about Epcot trying different attractions here and there until about 5pm. At this point we were starved and thought we would go over to MK and eat dinner and do some rides over there. Well, we couldn’t talk the kids into it! They were done and wanted to go back to the hotel and swim. No more parks today, period! So back to CSR!

We ate at the Pepper Market for dinner and remain impressed with the quality and quantity of the food. The kids chose cheeseburgers and fries this time and my daughter felt so grown up ordering her own food and getting her card stamped by herself. I got the prime rib special and DH got fajitas. Again, we were all very full and happy with this place! Some ice cream on the way out and then back to the water slide. It rained but no lightning so we swam and slid in the rain until about 9pm when we crashed for the day.

I realize now that I forgot to mention the fun had by DD and DH at Disney Quest last night. Well, I wasn’t there so I can’t exactly write a report on it but they had a fabulous time. They were there for about 6 hours and said they were able to do everything they wanted to do. DD was so excited when they arrived there, I guess she thought she was going to a regular run of the mill arcade and was blown away by this place. 5 floors of entertainment! They did all the virtual reality stuff and built and rode the roller coaster 3 times. DH said some of the virtual reality stuff was good quality and some wasn’t but he enjoyed it all. He also found a Tron machine and played that quite a bit. DD did the create a cd thing and learn to draw Pluto thing and DH bought both for her. They ate at DQ and later had dessert there and enjoyed both the meal and the dessert. They said the crowds weren’t really bad at all, DH had expected much worse. So, if you have any DQ questions, I’ll ask DD and DH for details but the bottom line is that they had a blast.

One more day left….I’ll post it later or tomorrow.

Sounds like DQ was a big hit with your dd!! One day we shall venture over there. I'm sure mine would love it.

Fantastic day you all had......I have to admit having fun is alot of work even for the kids......I love to eat around the world.....HECK I eat anywheres

"Billy fell asleep around 1929" - LOL!

another cool day - a few years ago DH and I stopped by DQ planning on spending a couple of hours there - we ended up loving it and spent 4 hours, left for a while (too calm my stomach from the roller coaster ride) and then came back for a few more hours!

Does this mean Billy was really old when he woke up? LOL

Thanks again for your post!
