My husband has a short business trip to Orlando the first week of August.

Of course, we are going to tag along with him, and I think his Mom and Stepdad may join us. I'd love to do a Disney dinner one night for one big splurge while down there.

I tried to get Hoop ressies, but (of course) they are completely sold out.

If you guys had to pick your favorite resort restaurant, what would it be?

I've only done a few (Boma, Whispering Canyon Cafe, O'Hana), so my knowledge/experience is that great.

I've read a ton of reviews on Allears, but I'd like to take a poll and hear everyone's opinions are.

All help is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

I voted WL, & would dine at Artist Point. We love it!

Are you staying in a WDW Resort or offsite? If you're staying offsite, I'd choose Emeril's @ CityWalk Universal over any of WDW's restaurants. Naturally, that doesn't include V & A.

My husband actually has to inspect the Gaylord Palms, so we are staying there with him.

HOWEVER, that said, I can't go and then NOT do a Disney restaurant!! I don't know how I feel about doing a non-Disney restaurant if we are only going to be there for a few days.

So, one vote for Emeril's! :thumbsup2

I was wondering if someone would suggest Artist Point. Is it (a) terribly expensive and (b) okay for kids?

AP is no more expensive than any other signature restaurant. There are kids there all the time (It is Disney World;) ) and although you will have the misbehaved child anywhere you go, they would be fine there. They have a kids menu and they also have coloring stuff and if your child colors and signs a picture they will hang it up in the restaurant.

narcoosees at grand floridian - especially the crab cakes, lobster and that heavenly :cloud9: almond crusted cheesecake!!!

I was wondering if Narcoosees would make this list!

Just read a wonderful TR, and they were gloating over their experience there!

I voted for Wilderness Lodge. As the OP suggested, I'd also go to Artist Point.

Either is okay for kids, if your kids are used to sitting quietly for a 2 hr. meal, some kids are, some aren't. Unfortunately, both are also expensive, but worth it. Emeril's usually costs us a little more than AP. The service is better at Emeril's also. That's not to say it isn't good at AP. It is! Our service at Emeril's has just always been exceptional. You couldn't go wrong with either though.

One note on Emeril's.... Since you mentioned that you have kids, I thought I'd forewarn you that Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure are easily seen from CityWalk. If you go there, your kids may get upset about not going in the parks. I just thought I'd let you know. :)
