Can someone please explain the quick service meal to me? We are going to Disney in May and are doing the dining plan that includes on snack, one quick service meal, and one sit down meal. Can anyone explain how this all works?? Also any suggestions on quick service locations and sit downs? Thank you so much!

While I haven't used the dining plan yet, will in Feb., this is my understanding:

You receive a credit for a snack, credit for a counter service and 1 table service credit per person for each night you stay.

So for 2 people for 5 nights you will receive a total of 10 in each category.

they can be used a variety of different ways over your stay. In other words, it isn't credited per day, but a lump sum given to you on the first day. The only caveat is that you can't use more in one transaction than you have people in your party. So, you can order 2 counter meals in one transaction, if you have 2 people on the plan.

Snacks are labeled with a little icon that you can find on the dining plan packet.

A quick service is a counter meal where you order and carry your tray to your table. You get an entree, drink and dessert.

A table service is a full service restaurant. You will be entitled to an entree, dessert and non-alcoholic drink (soda). Tax is included, but tip is not.

Some table service restaurants require 1 table service credit per person. Others, signatures, require 2 table service credits per person.

So day one, you may not want a snack, but a counter service lunch and then a counter service dinner. So out of the 10 credits in each category, you would have
left:
10 snack credits
6 counter service
10 table service

The next day, you have a counter service lunch and a signature dinner. So you would have this left:

10 snack
4 counter service
6 table service

I hope that helps a bit. I'm sure others with lots of experience will be able to provide more information.

shoney has got it down pretty much.

The CM's will help you as well, but after ordering your first meal or so you'll know what you're doing and will easily be able to order. For a counter service (Quick service) meal you will get a drink, desert, and an entree (Like shoney said). I was worried that it wouldn't be enough food for us the first time but an "entree" is like a giant burger and a side of fries or a huge wrap with a side. Almost all of the "entree's" have a side included on the menu. DH and I shared several of our CS meals easily.

This will be our first trip using table service credits so I don't have suggestions there but as far as CS places to eat, we love:

@ MK
Cosmic Rays in Tomorrowland (lots of selection if your whole group can't decide what to eat)
Peccos Bill's in Frontierland (good BBQ pork sandwiches and other yummy stuff. They also have a nice topping bar that you can use to add stuff to a salad or get cheese sauce for your fries.

@ EP
Sunshine Seasons (good fresh food. This is a great place to eat if you hit the point where you feel like all you've had is fast food and want to feel healthy)
I really enjoyed the French Bakery. I was able to put together a CS meal with a baguette sandwich, a DELICIOUS desert and a bottle of water. That was one of my favorite meals!!
DH really enjoyed the CS place in Mexico and China as well.

@ HS
I love Pizza Planet but mostly cause I love to pretend it's the real Pizza Planet. The Pizza is just the standard pizza that is served at any of the CS locations but the meal comes with a drink, pizza, salad, and a desert. It was a lot of food!
I think that's the only place we've ever eaten at HS cause we really do enjoy it.

@ AK
We don't really have a favorite here. We didn't really enjoy much. They have a BBQ place that's ok but not as good as Pecos Bill's. They also have Pizzafari with the same fare as Pizza Planet but without the fun theming.

Hope that Helps!!

FYI-for breakfast at a CS you will get an entree and drink only. No dessert and even though a few years back you could get 2 beverages (instead of dessert) you no longer can. That's why using a CS for breakfast is not a great value.)

That being said I do have a QSDP report that might help you with your CS options. We had 2 CS and 2 SC per day, per person. 66 CS and 66 SC.

You'll find the link in my siggie.
