We just got back from a week at Windsor Palms. We rented a 3-bed townhome on Silver Palm Drive. The house was very nice, comfortably furnished and well equipped. The pool was big enough to relax and play and the pool heat worked very well. House had a full-size washer and dryer (much better than those compact ones that hold 2 towels).

We didn't use any of the other facilities of the complex, so I can't comment on anything else, but everything looked fine and well-kept.

One warning for anyone visiting Windsor Palms. Since last time we were there 3 years ago, they moved the entrance. It is now sooner and kind of sneaks up on you. There is a sign, but especially at night, it is very easy to shoot past it. When you see the overpass coming up on your right, slow down. That's the road you need.

Sounds like a good time was spent by all. It sure is a great location if you stay off site.

Steve:

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Where is Windsor Palms? I am going to help some friends plan a trip and probably rent offsite next year - can you tell me which unit you rented? Thanks.

Windsor Palms is on Formosa Gardens Blvd. From Disney, take 192 West and turn left on Formosa. Go down about 3/4 mile and turn right into the development. Very convenient to Disney property. They have 2 and 3 bedroom condos, 3 bed townhomes and 3-6 bed pool homes. We rented 2348 Silver Palm Drive. You can search on vrbo.com or at their own site at http://www.windsor-palms-florida.net/.

We've rented 4-bdrm homes in Windsor Palms and also enjoyed our stays there very much. If you need recommendations on pool homes that size just let me know.

If you are heading toward Windsor Palms when you see the entrance for Indian Creek, Windsor Palms is just past that on your right!
I bet that finding the entrance can be quite confusing!
Its great to hear you had such a good time!

Steve, I was so hoping you'd post. I think that we passed you when we were there last week.

First, I saw someone at the Enchanted Tiki Room show at MK. The man was wearing a DIS t-shirt. For some reason, I just thought it was you. Don't know why, just a feeling. Said so to my husband and wanted to stop to ask but when the show ended, younger ds had to use the bathroom bad.

Then saw the same man, with a girl, woman (who I'm assuming was the wife) and an older woman (mom or MIL) eating lunch kind of earlyish at Cosmic Ray's. Sitting on the upper level, inside the glass area, near the ramp down to Sonny. And I think I've seen pictures of you and your daughter before and so again though it was you. By the time I got back there after ordering, the family was gone.

Was that you? Not sure if you'll remember but maybe it was. An almost brush with a DISer.

Sounds like me. We were in MK on Thursday and I was wearing my DIS shirt because we had a meet scheduled that afternoon (only Angiebelle showed up). And we did eat at Cosmic Rays.

Too bad you weren't able to stop and say hi. We met 5 DIS folks (besides Angie who we already knew) during our trip. It would have been great to meet another.

I'm sure it was you then. The picture on your signature is not showing so I can't be 100% but as soon as I passed you, I said to dh "I bet you that's DisneySteve." He just gave me one of those funny looks people do when you start talking DIS and kept on going. I would have stopped at your table but had younger ds w/ me who was begging for lunch.

You had on a baseball cap and I believe your daughter might have had some sort of visor on too?

Small "world" I guess!

Steve - Hope your trip was great!! I remember you saying that you had stayed at Orbit One in the past? Is that right? How did you like Windsor Palms in comparison? Just curious....always looking for new places to try when we go to Orlando.

Are you busy planning the next trip? That's what I usually wind up doing.

Welcome Home!

We have stayed here in the past - we had a 2 bed condo and used the community pool - it is a very nice location. One tip - if you use the Sherbeth Road shortcut then you can get from Disney Property to Windsor Palms very quickly - the sherbeth road takes you from the 192 to the Animal Kingdom. Well worth finding if you are staying in that area.

Hi Heather. In the grand scheme of things, we like Orbit One better because it is closer. But it is hard to compare the two places because they are different. This trip, there were 4 of us and we needed 3 bedrooms, something Orbit One doesn't offer. We also needed to have one bedroom on the ground floor so MIL didn't have to do any stairs. The Windsor townhouse was perfect for our needs on this stay. The private pool was a nice perk also.

In the future, when it is just the 3 of us, I would choose OO over WP.

Yes, we took Sherberth Road several times.

By the way, the Holiday Inn on Sherberth is being converted to condos so when those are done, there might be rental opportunites right there which would be super close.
