I currenty own 100 ak points and am looking to add on or try another resort however I think we are going to try buying resale. im not sure if any referrals to a particular person or place is allowed so I ask this. Is there something that could go wrong with buying resale? assuming im buying from a reputable company?

As long as you understand the resale restrictions on points use and use a reliable company you should be fine.

I have used Sharon at Fidelity and Shontell at DVCbyResale and had very good experiences with both of them. The Timeshare Store (the sponsor of these boards - see their add listed above) also has an excellent reputation. You will get some great info and advice on the DVC Boards, so feel free to ask us lots of questions!

Make sure you understand that resale points are subject to certain restrictions. Also, a contract has to pass Disney's Right of First Refusal so it can take several weeks to get the points in your account. Good Luck!

The Timeshare Store, DVC Resales, and Fidelity, are all good to work with. Most Brokers will try to find what you are looking for in a Resort or number of points we wish to buy. Just call and tell them what you would like and they can help you find it and even tell you if they think its a good price. The Timeshare Store and DVC Resales can help you with just about any thing you need.

My brother, sister and myself all have bought resale points from the timeshare store and all went well. Click on their site and pick what you like and they will handle the rest.

I bought our first several contracts through Disney, our last one through TheTimeShare Store. A great experience (timeshare store), they were very professional, great communication and the sale was quick and painless. Just remember (as other have said) there are now restrictions to the use of points that are bought through resale.

Since you already own points, you will want to make sure that when you add on you get the same use year, otherwise it is harder to use and keep track of.
We added on a 200 point HHI contract in the summer. It was very easy. We used dvcbyresale, DH emailed them asking how the resale worked. Let them know we were looking into a june HHI. They emailed a list of contracts at their co-broker. We found one we liked and made an offer. I think the whole thing from start to finish took less than a month.
