Just joined but have been lurking for a couple weeks. We have a trip planned for just us and the kids Dec 4-12th at Wilderness Lodge. I thought we were booking when the attendance would be lighter but am now in a panic over this Pop Warner thing!!! My youngest has Down Syndrome and can be easily over stimulated. We had really planned the trip so that hopefully the crowds would not be to overwhelming...any insight???
We have only been 1 other time in June 2004 and there were 28 of us on that trip (my parents wanted to take the grandkids before the magic wore off!!)...had a great time though.
We already have all our dinning and entertainment plans made (xmas party, fantasmic, candlelight, character dinning)...just am really nervous now about how crowded the parks and resorts might be.
Thanks

My friend coaches Pop Warner. He had the pleasure of getting to go down to WDW twice now for the festivities. For him at least he spent the majority of the time doing Pop Warner types of things. Like playing football and watching the cheerleading (his wife was cheer coach as well) They and there kids spent some time in the parks, but not all that much.

I would think it would not effect the crowds that much during the day. At night it is possible that you would see a slight in crease in park level, but it should not be THAT bad.
Keep in mind that they hold these things during these specific weeks so that they can get business they normally wouldn't have. It is still a great time to go! It most certainly beats Peak times!!

ETA - also most teams do not have the money in the budget to stay at the pricier hotels so I am sure at the WIlderness lodge you would not see a high level of Pop Warner people there as well. They mostly stay at the All star resorts and off site.

I've been to WDW the first week of Dec. 3xs over the past 6 years - I didn't even realize it was Pop Warner week. I will say the only way I was aware something was going on was because they usually close MGM early on a Friday nite to let them have exclusive use of the park. That was a bummer!
