OK, so we are traveling to WDW next month. DH, myself and our 3 young children. Staying in a 1BR at BWV. My son is young and loves to sleep in our bed, so we know we are fine there. My daughter actually usually winds up in our bed too, so we know we have more than enough room. Oldest daughter is a tiny little thing and will have pullout in LV to herself.

Dear old mom recently lost her job and is depressed about not being able to find another. She was telling me how much she would love to join us at Disney. We don't have enough points to upgrade to a 2-BR. Nor do we have the extra money to get a second room on a cash res.

We are the kind of family that enjoys each other's company and last year when we got a 2-BR to bring my Dad along, it was a total waste of space cause we didn't realize utilize it all. Everyone was always in the same room!

So I figured we will suck it up and have Granny sleep with older DD in LV. I thought that I would be able to add her to our ressie, b/c I thought DVC's policy was that although the stated max in a 1-BR is 5 people, that we could technically add another, and they just wouldn't provide bedding for her.

When I called member services, they told me that I could not add her to our reservation, that we were already over the limit for a 1-BR with 5 people

Please no flames.. I understand that some of you get personally invested in this occupancy issue, as I've seen other threads get pretty heated over this. I just want a simple answer as to whether member services does or does not allow me to add a 3rd adult to a BWV 1-BR. I already understand things will be tight and am willing to sacrifice comfort to bring my mom along. :thumbsup2

Thanks guys!

Ok that thread is 101 pages long... after spending 10 minutes reading through it, and being no closer to my answer, I will once again ask you guys!!

If anybody can just give me a simple answer I would really be appreciative!! :good vibes

I'm assuming the answer is NO at this point, but I just want to know if someone would say otherwise based on personal experience. I'm hoping the person at MS was wrong, but I don't want to waste their time (or mine) by calling back and asking the same question.

My understanding is that the answer really is "no"...five is technically one above the 4-person limit in a one-BR, and even tho they'll usually allow 5, they won't provide bedding for the 5th (altho that seems to be a non-issue for you)...

I don't know of any situation involving 6 people that MS would "ok" for a one-bed...

Sorry about that...

I'm not sure what the availability is, but did you consider trying to switch to a one bedroom that sleeps 5? I believe they're at BLT, AKV and OKW. Maybe you'd get lucky and something is available?

I know it might not be your first choice of location, but if it would let you bring Grandma, maybe it would be worth it?

How old are your children.

AKV(except Value), BLT and OKW sleep 5 plus one under 3

All the others offically sleep 4 plus one under 3. Though they will allow you to book 5 (unoffically) but do not provide extra bedding, but no plus 1 under 3 it is 5 max.

OP the question is not whether you can have 3 adults in the room. you most certainly can have 3 adults in the room... the question comes is can I have 3 adults and 3 children... that answer is no at the resort you are at.

As mentioned previously if your youngest is under 3 you can see if you can get a room at BLT, AKV Kidani or OKW then you can have 3 adults and 3 kids ASSUMING one of the 3 kids is under the age of 3.

Hope this helps.
