Hey everyone! so I leave for Disney in 3 days!! I stil have two days of work left :(, but the thought of Disney will get me through them!

Just wanted to know, I've read a few trip reports on here of people who have gone on the bus trip into Paris. It looks like a wonderful trip but I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how often the bus stops to let you off and have a look around? Is it only to go up to the Eiffel tower and the boat trip down the seine or do they let you off to look at other landmarks too? I would love to go on this trip but £60 each seems like a lot of money too hardly get off the bus.

Me and my boyfriend are trying to figure out whats best to do as we are going into Paris again on a different day to visit th Louvre. We were wondering if we should catch the train in and go see the sites on our own or would it be best to take that bus tour. :confused3

Cant decide what to do.

Whilst I can appreciate why people would do the tour, I'd much rather get the train and explore it at my own pace.

For less than 15e each, you get a days unlimited travel (mobilis 1-5) and it's really easy to get from one place to another. It's daunting to some but you just get the map and connect the dots. The train from Disney stops at the Champs Elyseee. From there you can get a train to the Trocadero which is very close to the tower.

You could do the Louvre, Eiffel tower and the Champs Elyssee (with the arch) in one day.

Here's the link to the day trip we had using the Cityrama bus tour.

I agree, it was a lot of money. But included in the price is the Eiffel Tower second floor and the boat trip on the Seine. The bus also parked under the Louvre for us to go and have lunch. It was closed the day we visited, but if it had been open we could have had time to go in. We also saw loads of Paris and learned some facts that we never would have going alone.

The special entry to the Eiffel Tower which only took 5 minutes or so was great. The main queue was absolutely massive. If we'd gone just for a day trip ourselves, I don't think we'd have waited in the queue that long.

If we didn't have the kids with us we might have tried just using the train. However, I did love how relaxing it was. I'd have been stressed out my head trying to figure out the train stops etc. So money well spent for us. We thoroughly enjoyed it. :goodvibes

Hope this helps :)

The other option if you really dont fancy finding your way round Paris yourself (although its easy - honest) is to get the train as Happy Tappy says but get off at Auber Station instead and across the road from there are the hop on- hop off bus companies so you could get tickets for one of these for the day

You can prebook the Eiffel Tower though to bypass the big queue. We've been there twice but have never been to the top because the queue was too big so next time we will definitely book in advance. We've done lovely, easy DIY day trips to Paris and that was with a small child in tow so I'd say you'd be well able too, if you wanted.

I can't remember the exact details off the top of my head, although think I have it written down somewhere, and hope I'm not muddling up the trips but I think this is what we did. We took the train to Arc d'Triomphe and went up. Then walked down Champs Élysées to the Louvre although didn't go inside, we spent time in the Tuilerie Gardens instead. Walked along the banks of the Seine and across to the Notre Dame where we caught a boat back up to the Eiffel Tower and then the train from there back to DLP. Another time we went inside the Notre Dame and spent some time walking around the Latin Quarter, passed the Pantheon and went to another park with a big mansion house in.

Wow that was an essay! Just looked it up and it was the jardin du luxembourg. The other thing we did that time was the hop-on bus tour which I had forgotten about. As I recall we spent a lot of time stuck in traffic and waiting at bus stops and it kinda reminded me of my commute.

Thanks everyone for your quick replies! :D
I will show this thread to my boyfriend and see what he thinks. Would love to do the tour but would also like to go into notre dame and spend a few hours in the Louvre ect. I think its looking more likely that we will try and go around on our own. It seems not to bad to navigate and my boyfriend is good with directions so I think we wont have any problems making our own way around paris.

Thanks again! :)

A lot of the sights are along the river including Notre Dame, the Louvre and the Eiffel tower. There is a water bus that stops at all these sites. You pay 15e for a day pass and just get on/off where you like. I've done it before and it's an enjoyable way to get around.

If you want to take a look through this thread

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2870099

you'll find (hopefully) lot's of info on going to Paris and what/how to do it.

I'd add that you have the cheap sightseeing tours with Foxity

http://www.foxity.com/en

as well as the HOHO buses at Auber as mentionned ^^

If you are planning on going into Paris at the weekend and you are under 26 you have a cheaper transport ticket

http://www.transilien.com/web/site/...rifs/billets-abonnements/ticket-jeune/lang/en

And a days unlimited travel on the RER-Metro and bus (zones 1-5) would only cost you 7,10€

Hth :goodvibes

Thank you all for you replies :)

Looks like we will be going into Paris on our own! I'll let you know how it goes! :)
We're on our way to the airport now! So excited!!
I'll post again when I'm back :)
