Quick Question about DVC Benefits

Well...I'm not sure they are benefits exactly.

We are locals and just waiting for our closing. I'm curious what types of events and benefits we can use being DVC members when not staying at a resort.

Can we go to Welcome Home Wednesday or the Merry Mixers (do they even still have them) or would we need to be staying there?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you can go to the mixers, but for the most part they are usually a just a meeting to see if you want to buy more points. As locals, you probably geet about the same or better ticket discounts without DVC....except for the current promotion on a PAP. If any of the shopping/dining discounts are better than what locals/AP holders already get, you can use those whether or not you are stating on site.

What is the PAP promotion? Is it still $400? My girls will each need new tickets in July and hubby in August.

We've been to the merry mixer before (we were members in the past) and those weren't sales events.... but we never made it to Welcome Home Wednesdays... since we were on vacation and didn't really want to spend time doing that.

The limited time promo is for a new DVC PAP for $484 plus tax ($1 less than a new DVC AP). It must be purchased by 4/30/2014 and activated by 1/31/2015.

Not much cheaper than our renewals then. A little maybe. Will have to think about that.

Thanks!

Depends on what pass level you have currently.

Regular DVC Annual Pass pricing (FL Resident Rates are the same):

Also, as a FL Resident you are eligible for the monthly payment plans on FL Resident Passes. There are a few additional passes only available to FL Residents (Seasonal, Week Day Select, Epcot After 4).

The other three have PAP. I have an AP and a separate WP&M. It just worked out that way based on expiration dates. Having two used to stink... but with the magic band I hardly notice it.

So our renewal is 542.09 and the deal PAP would be 515.46 a savings of 26.63 x 3 = ~80.00. Yeah right now we use the monthly payment plan and it is just built into our budget.

If you go with the DVC PAP promo, it's not eligible for the FL Payment Plan. This has kept me from taking advantage of this and the prior promo.

Not to be picky but we have been to several Welcome Home Wednesdays and a couple of Merry Mixers and not once has anyone ever mentioned adding on or anything remotely promotional.

You can go to a Welcome Home Wednesday or Merry Mixer if you can get into the resort, i.e., the DVC member card does not provide any access to free parking at the parks or get you past the securioty gates at any of the resorts.

Benefits you can take advantage of if not staying on site include: 10% discount off merchandise purchases made in any of the WDW stores (same as AP discount); discount on APs; can purchase TIW card for $100; discounts for some restaurants at parks, resorts and DTD (10% to 20% depending on restaurant); discounts on recreational activities and tours; small discounts for entry into waterparks and Disney Quest; DVC discount (in 30% range) at golf courses. Once you are a memebr you will find available perks by clicking "Perks" under "Membership Magic" on the official members' site, and if not yet a member, you can usually find most of the perks by doing a Goggle search for DVC Perks.
