Quick question about Akershus going "back to" original buffet

Hello! I posted this last night at the end of a long thread, but figured I would go ahead and start a new thread as I haven't found out yet....

When you say Akershus is going bak to the original buffet....do you mean the cold salad bar buffet thingy, followed by hot dishes you order from a CM? That is how it was In Nov 2004 when I went there (and loved it, BTW...I would have been happy with just the cold buffet!)

Or will they now have a hot buffet and a cold buffet? I think I would like that even better, because you could only order one thing at a time from your server and I like to have a lot of little tastes of different things.

Thanks! I am having lunch there in Oct and I would like to know what to expect! I was disappointed when they changed it to a character meal and changed the menu.

Akershus originally had both hot and cold buffets before they switched over to the a la carte entrees a few years ago.

I'm assuming the posts are referring to the hot buffet being implemented again.

Does anyone know when this change will take place? Also, what are some of the items on the buffet? We will be attending the princess dinner in two weeks and this one ADR has always concerned me regarding the choices of food.

It concerns me also!!! It's a strange choice for a kids character meal!! Poached cod and goat cheese!!Yuck!! I was wondering if the buffet had any other foods.

We have an ADR in 2 weeks too & weren't too sure if we'd like the food - buffet style would be better for us too.

When I asked on Sunday I was just told that the buffet was coming back and it will be reopening either today or tomorrow. I don't know if they are going back to the original (with both cold and hot buffets) or the previous with cold buffet and the hot dishes served. I expect to be in Epcot again tomorrow and I will see what is set up and report.

I am interested also. The last time we went we enjoyed the hot and cold buffet. Akershus was one of our "must go to" places until I read about the changes. We aren't interested in a princess meal, so I crossed it off our list. If it goes back, I'll have to reconsider. I wonder why it would go back, though, if it was such a huge success as a princess place. I believe I read that it was packed as a princess place.

But anyway, I enjoyed the foods that were unusual to us, and I'd go back if it changes back.

It will still be a princess place, they are just changing how the food is delivered (or I guess not delivered in the case of a buffet ).

I am sure that they will have kid friendly choices on the buffet. I am excited because DH and I LOVE unique and interesting food, and this way I can get that, and DD can be happy with the princesses. For us, it would be a win-win situation!
