Quick price check, please

Friends have just rung to ask whether the price they have been quoted by TCD is okay. Here's the deal for 2 adults plus 1 child (age 10):

travel out Friday before October half term, 2004, return Saturday at end of half term, i.e. 15 nights,

TCD flights
car hire (not sure about insurance)
3 bedroomed villa

£2,400

Any thoughts?

Seems Ok for that time of year which will be fairly busy for bookings.

Depends if they want to wait and book up......as a guideline we're
going 27/11:

3 x adults & 1 x child

Flights ( BA - scheduled ) Newcastle /Gatwick / Tampa
£1097.00
Car Hire ( with Insurance ) £ 298.00
2 x villas ( 1 x week on Gulf Coast
& 1 x week in Orlando ) £ 740.00

Total £2135.00

Both villas are 4-bedroomed and include pool heating.

BTW , I've just seen 4 bed villas in Rolling Hills for £ 40 a night in late November !!!..... Wish I'd hung on even longer!

But, as I say, your friends have the benefit of knowing their booking is done & dusted and sorted for a popular time of year.

Thanks Mike, that's great.

They are beginning to panic that they'll have difficulty booking their flights as they aren't really able to be flexible with dates and, as you say, it is a very popular time to travel.

We've been several times over the October half term, but have never booked a villa in Orlando (only on the gulf coast) so I wasn't sure about prices for a package including that.

Where do you stay on the Gulf Coast ?

It's our first time and we're still searching out things to do/places to eat...all suggestions welcome !

We've booked a place at Dunedin, just north of Clearwater/St. Pete's. We're absolutely delighted with the house we've managed to get for the week.

The flights would ahve been even cheaper if DD wasn't 12 and classed as an adult ! Mind you, she reckons she's been an adult for years already.

Where do you stay on the Gulf Coast ?

We've been to Crystal River, Port Charlotte and Cape Coral - next Easter we're having a couple of nights in the Keys and then moving up to Naples before our Orlando fix.

We really enjoy the Gulf Coast and like trying out different areas. I like the peace and quiet compared to our time in Orlando. We're not a beach-loving family, but love looking around the harbours and coastal areas, and DH makes the most of any fishing opportunities he can wangle!
