Have booked deluxe inside (CAT 10) for 7 day Eastern. Did two 4 day cruises in this type room and it was fine. Thinking 7 day would be nice with some natural light in cabin. Is it worth $400 to upgrade (current price)? What is differnce between regular veranda and navigator veranda?

Want to decide quickly before price goes up!!

I think it's just a matter of opinion. Two years ago we were in the Deluxe room with porthole and that was nice but I wanted a verandah. My husband didn't think it was worth the extra $500.00.

For this cruise in 2002 he said we could book a room with a verandah and he really liked it and said it was worth it! We have been on one Carnival Cruise only because we were stuck in Cozumel last year during Sept 11 and that was the ONLY way to get home. We were put in an inside cabin and my WHOLE family slept until 12:30 because we had NO idea what time it was and it felt like the whole day was wasted!

I definately prefer the day light shinning in the room ... and when you are at sea you can look out your window and see the beautiful sunsets as you are getting ready for dinner. I think it's worth it.

For a seven day cruise I think it is worth it to have some natural light coming in. However, on our 4 day cruise we were hardly in our cabin and felt the verandah was definitely not utilized as much as we would have liked. I just booked our 7 day western and requested one of the previous category 6 rooms which are now category 7. This is a cabin with an obstructed view.

Good luck deciding.

Went ahead and upgraded to the Navigator's Veranda. Thanks for the tips.

I don't know if anyone answered your question about the verandah and a navigator's verandah but the navigator's verandah is a "closed" verandah...for the price you might want to think about just getting a porthole room.

If you go to www.castawayclub.com Barb has pictures of all the rooms...verandah's ... navigator verandah's and porthole rooms. Have a look and see if the price is worth it to you...

Have a great time planning the cruise! I wish I was planning again...but we just came back about 3 weeks ago...so we are just grouchy around here right now ... until we get outta the post disney cruise depression! And that will not be until we book another trip!

Have fun,
Heidi

Wow. After looking at the pictures of the Magic Navigator Verandas on Barb's site I thought they weren't worth the extra money with the small "porthole" size opening. Wouldn't be able to sit on the veranda and enjoy any view. Sooooo.... went ahead and got the reqular CAT 6 veranda (6130).

That's two changes already in less than 48 hours since making the reservation. A little impulsive.

Also just got word that we have reservations at the Contempory for Shades of Green Prices for a post cruise WDW visit!!!

have you considered the staterooms with the plexiglass verandahs that were recently reclassified to Cat. 7 (nav) because of a partial obstruction? We have pictures of those on my site too...they are pretty close to what you'd get in Cat. 6, except for a small obstruction.

I really think you are going to enjoy the verandah. In the evenings we would get coffee and cookies from room service and let the boys have the TV and we would just sit on the verandah with our coffee and cookies just listening to the ocean...IT'S SOOO PEACEFUL!!!

ENJOY!

We booked the obstructed view verandah cat 7 on deck 7 for a future cruise on the Magic Caribbean Eastern. I have cruised in cat 9, 10 and secret porthole 10 on the 3 day. This will be our first 7 day with Disney. I have bad allergies and in the evenings I occasionally have to go out to get a breath of fresh air. I thought the cat 7 verandah with the obstructed view would be ok and the price is right.

Catagory 7 rooms are my favorite rooms on the ship! The balcony is very open but inclosed enough to give a lot of privacy and protection from the weather.

We've been in catagory 7's for all our cruises and will be again in March!

We had the Navigator's Veranda for our honeymoon in April and it was so worth it!
