If I have a payment that needs to be received by the 15th of next month, is mailing it on the 8th enough time to get it there (a week)? The payment will be going out of state, but within my region of the US.

It's been forever since I used snail mail for anything; I have no idea.

It should be. But since the 8th is a Sunday and the 15th is a Sunday, I would try and mail it on Sat. the 7th. Some places do not post payments on Sunday and if there is a late fee involved I would try to mail it sooner.

Most post offices do not process mail on Sundays. It should say on the mail box what the pick ups are, if you are mailing it at a curbside box. You can always call your post office and ask.

I'd mail it on the 6th or the 7th, just to be on the safe side.

It also depends on how good your post office is, and how good the the receiving post office is. Our mail service here is super fast, but I've heard complaints in other areas that it takes much longer than it should to mail a letter.

Personally, the few bills I still send snail mail, I send out the day I receive them. That way if there is a delay en route, it will still arrive in time. But most stuff I pay just online now, I save a fortune in stamps and I don't have to worry about the post office screwing up.

But to answer your question, assuming your post office isn't terible, it should make it on time.

I use online bill pay for everything too, but we're having an issue with a particular payee "not receiving" our payments and it's a massive pain to prove payment when you do online bill pay. So I thought an actual cancelled check in this case would be a good thing.

Thanks for the help!
