Okay..I found the TA and the price. I'm happy with both. She told me I could book directly with Disney, pick out cabins and then "turn the deal" over to her for discounting. How does this work. I'm so confused and I haven't even booked the trip yet.

What this means is that you call DCL and book directly with them--thus, the DCL cast member spends time with you and does all the work with you. You then "transfer" the ressie to your TA--wait till you get the written print out from DCL and everything is as you want it.

Your TA automatically gets a 10% commission from DCL, even though she didn't do any work. She then gives you a partial rebate on this commission. After you transfer the ressie, any further communication between you and DCL must go thru the TA.

You don't lose anything in doing this. You keep whatever deal you have thru DCL, plus get any rebate/bonus/onboard credit or whatever that your TA may be offering. If you get an onboard credit thru DCL, you keep this also, but you can only have one onboard credit per cabin. Basically, your TA is asking that you do the work directly with DCL.

Is all this a good thing I hope. :) I just called DCL and booked with them. OMG I am so excited. This is so cool. YAY!!!! I love you guys! You've all been so helpful.

The next stage is SHOPPING!!!!

Then packing!!!

Then CRUISING!!!!

BO'smom,

Gee you're a travel agent's dream customer...you're TA doesn't have to do a thing and they get commission, you and DCL did all the work. :) I'll book your cruise for you! LOL!

The price DCL gave me was much higher than the one the travel agent then gave me after I talked to DCL and got my booking number. Would DCL have given me the discount if I talked to them directly? What should I have asked for? And as far as doing "all the work", I just made a phone call requestng the date and the cabin. I didn't even give my credit card. That plus ticketing, etc., is being done by the travel agent. I'm still trying to figure out how else I would have got my discount had I gone to DCL directly? From what I heard, they don't give discounts.
