Will they hold it? I am trying to contact our CAA agent and my friends called from Buffalo airport to advise the flights are cancelled all day and have rescheduled til tomorrow. Will the hotel still hold the room if the agent contacts them? Has anyone been able to add a night on at the end to make up for it??
What are your experiences

I would call your resort and explain to them what is happening. They should be the best source of information on this. Are you at the airport now and do you have the resort number? If you do not have the number, if you tell me what resort you are at, I can post the number for you.

I had a flight delay of about 9 hours and called ME and just informed them that I would be late and they said no problem. However, it was not an entire day.

Adding an extra day I guess would depend upon availability at the resort.

Good luck and be safe.

No it is my cousin who is at the airport, and she called me, as i had taken care of booking everything for her, and suggested to fly out of Buffalo, so i feel responsible  but i have to wait til the agent calls me when she gets in this morning. I realize the availablity will depend, but now they are going to lose 1.5 days from there trip. but either way, i wonder if they would hold the room til tomorrow if that does not work out. thanks for the quick reply

It deoends. This exact thing happened to my SIL and BIL in Dec.They called the resort and were able to extend trip by a day...however, the resort said that if they were at full occupancy , they might not have been able to do that...not sure how true this is, or what you would do if it was full occupency...:goodvibes

The agency owns the reservation so they will have to make the call. There most likely will be a change fee.

It would seem very UNDisney like to not hold the room b/c of weather delays.

I would just call the resort and explain. I cannot see it being a problem holding the room until they arrive.

Stephanie

Most likely they will not talk to someone at the actual resort. Disney is also a business so they do have the right to charge for the change. They may get some pixie dust but I wanted them to be prepared.

I would have expected that they would be charged for the room, but if they are alerted the guest had weather interuption would they cancel the ressie?

Like I said, I was only delayed for about 9 hours. So am curious how this is handled.

Would it also depend on the insurance or type of insurance they have? If they had it?

Stephanie

If they were smart and got the travel insurance then they will have travel delay coverage which should pay for a hotel if they need it tonight and their TA should also be able to modify their reservation for arrival tomorrow. They might also be able to file a claim for the unused day of their vacation if the TA is not able to take off the first night.

As far as adding a night - it might be tough, Disney is pretty booked up right now but it couldn't hurt to try.

Best of luck to them.

The agent should call and explain the situation. It's out of your hands now and you shouldn't feel guilty about it. Did you somehow turn into God overnight? Disney is good about situations like this. I'm sure the room reservation will be held on the way down when Disney is notified of the delay in plans. For adding a day on the end of the trip, your cousin might have to wait until she is down there to see if that is possible.

Disney is a business, that is true. But it's not a total heartless business. I know from experience that in the event of the threat of a hurricane, they bend over backwards to make sure the guest can change plans if they want to with no penalties at all. Heck - they even give advice on what the weather is like at that particular moment. The same happened when they had the wildfires in the area last year.

If the Disney resort is booked for the extra night i advise they stay a night off site so they can use their park tickets. They may loose the one night resort and dining ( if they had it) but they would still get to play for however many days. Most other hotels in area have shuttle buses to Disney though just not as frequent as Disney's resort ones.

The TA was able to add the extra room, and the flights were changed but they had to pay more for the change return(only $20pp, which they already had in a credit from a Ding) So they really worked out.

Glad everything worked out!
