Just got back from a 2 night stay at the Portofino Bay Resort, and it was great!
We decided Thursday night to go over for the weekend, so we called and made reservations for 1 night at Portofino Bay, 10 minutes after arrival we extended our stay for another night. The resort is beautiful and the staff friendly, I only found three items that detracted from an excellent experience. First, item I noticed was that there was very little music playing around the resort (mainly in the main plaza) would of liked a little more background music (set the tone). Second, was the lack of attentive service at the restaurant Trattoria del Porto, we ate there twice (dinner and breakfast) and both times waited for the server to make initial contact with the table and to take our beverage order. After, mentioning it to the server both times service improved but only marginally. Lastly, was the overall downright rudeness of some of the young children (5-10 years old) at the main pool, from disrespect of the lifeguards to language. (I said something each time to the children but would of liked to spanked a few of them instead, had they been my children they would not be happy) where the heck were the parents?
Negatives aside an excellent time was had by all. I will never stay offsite or at Cabana Bay, stayed at RPR several times and at PBR, I like the EP too much, next stop is HRH. Parks were lightly occupied each morning and by 2pm were personally too crowded for my tastes so it was back to the pool to relax. (To be truthful even at 2pm wait times for most rides were dooable even if we did not have EP (Gringots was only about a 20 minute wait at 1030-11 at 2pm the Hulk was only 20 minutes without EP)
Can not wait to go back!
