Silly question I am sure it has been answered before but not sure where to find the info. My dad is 65 just had knee surgey back in MArch and is heading back to WDW at the end of September. So my question is if if gets a GAC will it help alivate the time he stands? Is there a palce they will allow him to sit while the others in his party wait in line He is good walking but standing is what bothers him so if he did not have to stand for long periods of time that would be great. TIA

There are no places to sit and wait in queues or ways to wait outside a queue on a bench and join your party as it gets close to the boarding area and no GAC acommodations that would reduce time standing in queues. Most pre-show areas for both rides and shows also have no seating and those won't even have the forward movement of a queue. Also, if your father is going to be about 6 months out of knee surgery, while he says he is okay walking is he going to manage walking 6 miles minimum (and as much as 8 or 10) each day during your trip?

If your father can handle the amount of walking, I'd suggest renting either a rollator (walker with 4 wheels and a seat) to push walking around and give him a place to sit in lines or a wheelchair that he could use the same way as the rollator. You can also work at figuring out a good touring plan that will reduce ride wait times as much as possible so that he should have less time standing around.

If he can't handle the amount of walking (WDW really does require far more walking than most people realise and most of that is moving between attractions rather than in queues), then he may want to consider an ECV (from what you're saying, I'm assuming he's in good enough shape mentally to drive a car which should be good enough shape for him to drive a scooter).

Unfortunately, a GAC does absolutely nothing to help with standing. Disney's answer to the problem is to rent a WC or ECV so he will have a place to sit. A rollator will also give him a seat.

You will also find that walking might be a problem. He will walk many miles a day at WDW. If you want a good reference, read the FAQs at the top of this board. It is well organized and will answer most if not all your questions.
