I see lots of references to these, and just want to know what they are exactly - I've tried to buy stuff before the trip to save $, and picked up a fat Sharpie. Does fat Sharpie = "fat pen" ??

Will a fat Sharpie be fat enough for characters to sign autographs with?

The Sharpie should be fat enough for most of the characters to handle.

Sharpies are a Permanent Marker. Not sure they care for that. Most character's hands are covered with fur or cloth and it would be very hard for them to get out.

Also, your kids might get it on their clothes as well, not a stain that you want! LOL

At the B&M Disney stores in my area they have the perfect size pens on sale for around $5.00.

I agree with MCazer, I wouldn't want to get that on myself.

Of course, you can take permanent markers off with a little bit of rubbing alcohol... not that you'd want to have to carry this around as well :)

Found fat pens at the dollar tree!

My fear with a sharpie would be the ink soaking through to the other pages. I just bought the ball point fat pens at WDW. We only bring them out for trips, so my kids think they are extra special!

What about a Dr. Grip ball point?

Are the "fat pens" the size of a fat chisle point marker? To get really Type A, about what diameter are they across!

Thank you for bearing with me! I'm  with excitement!

We got ours at the gift shop at our resort, it had a mickey head on the top...it was $2.99 and I kept it afterward for work. I would veto the sharpie because I have seen characters struggling with these and then marking their gloves. I don't think even alcohol removes a sharpie.

As far as the actual size of a "fat" pen, I'd say it's similar in diameter (probably a bit larger) than a kids crayola marker.

Does that help??

The fat pens at WDW are around $2.50 and make a cheap souvineer. I would wait until you get there unless you can find a fat pen under $2 at home.

I feel so silly getting hung up on a "fat pen!"

I think this addiction is getting to my head  ! Thanks for understanding!

I found fat fabric markers at the craft store, we've used them for three trips in five years, so I've gotten my money's worth.
