We just returned from a week at WDW - stayed at Beach Club. We paid out of pocket.
The good:
ESPN on the Boardwalk. All 5 of us loved it - ate here twice. Ribs, reuben, turkey club, philly steak sandwich (favorite), bacon cheeseburger, clam chowder. High quality food with prices from $10-15.
Cape May Cafe Character breakfast - Good food and character interaction. Easy to get reservation.
Beaches & Cream at Beach Club - Good burgers/fries/flavored sodas. Cost was about $10+ each for food. Atmosphere was neat - shakes looked yummy! DD didn't care for chili dog.
Columbia Harbour House at MK - Shrimp basket for $10 was great counter service food (came with 10 shrimp, cole slaw & fries). Fish was good too. Best place in all parks for counter service IMHO.
Desserts at France in Epcot - Mmmmm Very good chocolate cake! Ham sandwiches were good too.
Sunshine Seasons in Epcot - Mongolian Beef was good. Salmon was good. Desserts were fresh and yummy (strawberry shortcake and keylime pie). Large selection.
Brat stand in Epcot - DH ate here twice and loved it.
Wolfgang Puck Express - DH LOVED spagetti and meatballs. Chicken alfredo was good. Mac and cheese not so good. This meal was $80 - too expensive for counter service and paying out of pocket. I hear it is on dining plan as counter service, so that would be a good deal.
MK - Dole whip in adventure land = yum!
Strawberry/bannana smothie in future world = yum!
Cinnamon Rolls at Main Street Bakery = yum!!
The not-so-good:
Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom - Service was awful. Cost was $158 (5 people) and not worth it. Food was ok, waited forever for drink refills, never asked how food was or if we needed anything. Waiter would not talk to me or make eye contact when he realized I was upset. I don't complain to the manager often, but I did that day. Didn't get me anywhere, but I hope it helps someone else in the future. There were so many waiters/waitresses and busboys/girls that passed our table-we could not get anyones attention to let our waiter know we needed him.
Counter Service at Mexico in Epcot - DH liked it, but the rest of us did not. One meal was too spicy and the quesidllas were bland. We needed sour cream and they said no. Churros were good. No place to sit and eat.
Pecos Bill - Burgers were good, but the taco salad was just ok and the pulled pork sandwich was not very good.
America Counter Service in Epcot - Beef/cheddar sandwiches were bad. Chicken wrap sandwich was good! Slow service. DD couldn't believe how rude the order taker was
A man with disabilities was short .75 and the order taker didn't handle it well. We paid the .75 for him and helped him with his tray.
Pizza Planet in HS - Our DD's enjoyed the pizza, I did not. DH said vegie pizza was ok.
