Hi Guys... I know there is no miracle solution out there... I have lost a lot of weight through changing my eating habits and excersice. BUT....

I have gained a few (okay more than a few... 8 lbs :blush: ) over the holidays. And I am going away with my DH for the first time since kids at the end of Jan. It is part business/part pleasure. I want to jump start my weight loss so I can try to lose it my the end of January.

Okay here is my question. Has anyone tried Slimfast or dexitrim or any quick jump start type weight loss aides? I know I still need to diet and excersice to keep it of I just want a quick boost.

Any thoughts? :wave2:

Well, I would not reccomend "Slimfast" the reason being;

A member of my family once did it for around 2 months, he lost about 1stone 7LB's and as soon as he went back to eating normal healthy food + exercise he put it straight backon within a week!

So yes, It works but as soon as you stop your probs gonna end up putting it back on! Not tried any myself, i prefer just eating normal healthy foods with exercise... not much of a quick way to do these things from my experiance :badpc:

I did the Slimfast thing-- same thing happened-- you lose weight, but as soon as you go back to real food, you'll gain it back (and possibly more)

As far as Dexatrim goes-- I've heard two things-- years ago, I knew some people who tried it, and they said it made them so bloated, that they felt nauseous all the time (and hence, didn't eat). Who knows what was in that, but now, I here it is more of a placebo affect that makes you think you aren't hungry because you are taking a pill.

These things would probably work for you if you are losing for an event, but for a trip, you may gain it all back by the third day of your trip!!

You have 4 weeks-- you can lose about 8 lbs if you kick up your exercise a notch-- why not try that??

What about a lower carb type program for a few weeks? Atkins and South Beach both have jump start programs that allow you to lose 8-14 pounds (on average) during the first two weeks. I do South Beach and I lost 14 pounds the first two weeks and then about 20 my first month, of course I had a lot of weight to lose but this is just another suggestion.

I agree with the previous post about the lower carb type. You don't have to look at it as low carb. Just eliminate all sugar/ sugar types and starch from your diet. Eat reasonable servings of protein and unlimited veggies. If you can eat them raw even better. Small servings of fruit is okay once or twice a day if you stick to the low glycemic like berries and stay away from the tropical kind.

I just wanted to give a quick update... I have decided to try South Beach... and I am doing great.

I have been excercising my booty off and eating on plan and I am down 4 lbs already..... :cool1:

Thanks for you help. :sunny:
