Hoping the wonderful folks here on the DIS can help me. We are leaving tomorrow to drive to WDW, and I wasn`t sure if on our way home we would need to fill out a traveller declaration card when we`re crossing the border coming back from Canada.

We`re not planning on going over our dollar limit (we`ll be gone for more than a week), but I didn`t know if we would still be expected to fill something out in advance. I know you have to when you`re flying and coming back into Canada by air. If anyone could provide advice on this I would GREATLY appreciate it.

Thanks a million,
MouseGirl

You can make a verbal declaration at land border crossings - at least that's what I do about 30 times a year at the Sarnia-Port Huron one! Just have your receipts ready and in your hand - totals split up by person (we have been asked for the split more often lately).

If you are unsure, you can print the declaration cards off before you go from the border services website. http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/instructions-eng.html

Have a great time!

Exactly! But have all your receipts ready, just the same!

You'll need to tally up your receipts and when we say have them ready I mean hold them in your hand so that the border crossing guard can see them. You'll also need proof of where you stayed in the states so if you have that receipt that Disney gives you keep it to show them.

when we've been gone for a week, they've never asked us for receipts, just the amount per person. Have them ready though just in case they do ask though. Every time we've gone shopping for the day they ask to see them though.

We have only been pulled in once, and that was because DH was over the limit in beer to bring back (even with duty it was still $10 cheaper per 24 pack!). We are always honest and never try to hide anything.
