Quick Advice needed...Self-tan before a pedicure?

I'm getting a pedicure in a few hours, but I also need to "tan" today. Can I do it before the ped? It will have 2 hours to dry (requires only 1 hour). But, will exfoliating that soon after tanning hurt the tan? Any thoughts or comments?
