Hello all. I have a couple of questions, as I have never rented points before. I have always purchased a package through Disney. 1) Can you use Disney's Magical Express to get to your resort and back to the airport? 2) Can I use Disney transportation? (buses, boats etc.) although I think I already know the answer to this questions.

I just ran the numbers and I could stay at a deluxe (if I rented points) for less than I could stay at a Moderate (if I purchased a package through Disney).

Thank everyone for their answers in advance :wizard:

Answers to both questions are yes. DVC is just like any other WDW resort stay. You get ME and can use Disney transportation.

As mentioned, you are eligible for both ME and using Disney transportation. There are differences for renting since you are renting a reservation from an owner so Disney is not involved. Be sure you study to know some of the differences. For example, you don't get daily mouse keeping including new towels. The reservation stays in control of the owner and all has to go through them.

You can certainly get a great deal and for many, it is worth it. There is a lot of info on the Rent/Trade boards.

Good luck!

Yes, you can get Magical Express but the owner you are renting from has to call and set it up, I believe.

Same with DDP and that has to be paid for in full at the time of purchase.

Have fun on your trip!!

Thanks! I sent in a reservation form through David's Vacation Club Rentals today for a Boardwalk Villa. I've heard wonderful things about them on these boards! I've bent wanting to stay there since my first WDW trip. I hope I'm able to get a standard villa but if not, I'll be able to afford to upgrade now. Now I have to wait until September! :scared:

We will be there in September too!! :wave2: Yay!!

BF and I are going to Maui in April (I've never been there) but all I can think about is WDW in September! It's nice to know that there are other people out there who love it as much as I do :cool1: I think I'm going solo this time :cheer2:

How about free dining? are you eligible for free dining if that is offered during the time you are renting points?

Free dining is a Disney promotion that requires booking a room through Disney for full price. If you "rent points" you are renting a reservation from a DVC member who booked that room on points so it wouldn't qualify for free dining since the DVC member didn't pay rack rate for your room.

As far as i know, when you rent points, you are nit eligible for any discounts.

You are not purchasing a reservation from Disney. The free offer, discount or deal is with Disney.

You are purchasing a reservation from a DVC member. Unless the DVC member chooses to offer the same discount/freebie. And I doubt if they would.
