Questions trying to compare saving money on the DDP

First off thanks for reading. Ok trying to figure out how to save money on the DDP. I know where we want to eat One, at Crystal Palace, two, Chef Mickeys and three at Akershus. We will be staying for 4 days 3 nights. First off can I just pay for 3 days of dinning plan? We will be driving to the beach on the fourth day. Second. I have two girls, 10 and 13. Even if I pay for DDp at 4 adults can the eat off the kids menu? Also at Akershus they only have pirate punch with the lunch menu. We have ate there before. They got the pirate cup and souvenir back then but I didn't know if they still do it! And I read that you get a plate of desserts. Just one plate per table no matter how many people you have? TIA

Is this correct? I added up the dinner at The Crystal Palace, Akershus Royal Banquet and Chef Mickey's I got $102+ just for these three TS. So if per day for an adult for the DDP it is $47.99 I am saving A TON of money?? TIA

The DDP depends on the number of nights you stay. Since you are staying 3 nights, you will get 3 TS, 3CS and 3 snack each on regular DDP. Yes adults can order from the kids menu and no question asked. I don't know if you looked at the kids menu but one of the items is a hot dog with corn and another is a cheese pizza if I remember correctly. They might find something better in the adult menu. As for dessert, it's one plate per party of 4. We were 5 and got 2 plates. The same goes for the picture with the main princess... usually Belle. You can a free package of pictures per group of 4. As for the cup, I can't help you with that one. Sorry

OK NEVERMIND I thought you could get the DDP all the time. I guess you can only get it certain dates

The DDP is available for purchase 365 days per year granted that you do the following:

1. Stay at a Disney Owned Resort and purchase tickets as well as the DDP. In this case, you can pay for it up until the total amount is due, 45 days before arrival.

2. Stay at a DVC location and pay for the price of the DDP when you add it to your reservation.

There is a lovely sticky at the top of this page with everything you could ever want to know about the DDP. Give it a good read, and you should have a better understanding of what is offered and whether it would be a good fit for your family.

you can have it all the time but you need to take it for the duration of your stay and it's based on the number of nights that you stay and not on the number of days.

Did you know that disneyworld.com says you can't use AAA and the DDP but myAAA TA said you can!

I think it means you have to book the package through AAA. If you call Disney to get the AAA discount on your room, they won't let you add the DDP (or at least that's what I've heard).

Yes because adding the tix & DDP makes it a package and you can only book AAA packages through AAA, not directly through Disney.

also you do not need to purchese tickets to have the dinning plan. the only time that comes an issue is when it is free dining. at that point you need to book at least a 2 day pass per person. that is only because it would be part of a package though.

That is not correct - unless you are a DVC member or AP holder, you can only add the DDP if you book a package. By definition, a package = room + at least a 1 day ticket for paid dining (for each person in your room).

For free dining, it is a minimum 2 day ticket.
