Questions regarding Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

Okay, we're planning our second-ever trip for next year. My niece informed me that she really wants to go to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. So, I have a couple of questions. First, is the party worth it? My niece will be 16, is that party for families with younger children, or will two 16-year-olds have fun? Secondly, is park admission required or is the ticket for the event all that's required? Also we're looking at October 22-30 what are the crowds like that time of year?

Thanks a bunch in advance you guys are always so helpful! :earsboy:

My kids are 19 and 16 - we all dressed up and had a great time. Rides were all walk ons-no waits. Parades were great-fireworks excellent. Enjoyed watching all the others in their costumes. Make sure you go for your free photo-just got ours in the mail-priceless!

DH and I did the party last year with my BIL and sister. We're all in our 20's. We had an awesome time. The parade is awesome and all the castmembers and characters are in costume. My favourite was the CM's at the Mad Tea Party they were dressed as playing cards.

Welcome to the DIS Dawnywog! :wave2:

Even if you just go for the rides, it's totally worth it. You can basically walk on whatever ride is open. I got to go on some rides that I normally don't line up for like Dumbo :) I loved going trick-or-treating ... something I have done in many years!

If you're just going to the party, you'll only need the MNSSHP ticket. You can enter MK as early as 4PM (even though the party officially starts at 7PM) but you'll be taken over to the Tomorrowland side of the park. If you want to go into the park before 4PM, you'll need a regular ticket as well.

HTH :p

We did it too this year and thought it was great!! We saw lots of people without kids there and lots of families with older kids too. Make sure to go for your pic.... got ours last week and it was cute!! Rides were all walk on's.... we rode buzz 2X during the 1st parade and didn't have more then a 5 min wait if that!! Other then the princess brekie that was the highlight for my almost 5yo ds (princess brekie still comes in 1st for him... gonna have to watch that boy!!lol)

We plan on doing it again in Oct 2006 when we take my IL's there!! Can't wait!

Thanks you guys for all the info & thanks bunnyfoo for the welcome. After reading what you guys have said & seeing how enthusiac my niece is at the prospect of trick-or-treating in the Magic Kingdom, I don't see how I can say no.

Nov. 2003 was our very first trip to Disney and after we were like "OK, now that we know what we've done wrong let's go again & do it right." Last time we hardly met any characters at all and those were by accident/luck. So this time we want to do some special things like character breakfasts and such. So I registered here because I figured we'd need some help.

Thanks again

Welcome to the DIS ... in particular our family here on the Cdn board :) And we sure do love to help plan Disney vacations. It helps us live vicariously through others!

As someone who has just returned from her "Cottage"LOL, and did the MNSSHP...........

It is sssooooooo totally worth it!

We had dinner with pjpoohbear, her mom and her friend Tony at LTT. Can't review the food 'cause was too excited about being there! According to DD we've had better meals!

We had a DisMeet and had our photo taken in front of the Haunted Mansion! It was awesome to ride on Halloween Night!

The wait times were minimal at best! We are already planning on attending next year! My infamous camera was not working that night! Using this excuse to go again!

We got to see the Headless Horseman! The parade was breathtaking! So were the Fireworks!

If you get the chance you won't regret it!

Even though Halloween Night was sold out we found everything manageable.

We were let into the park at 4:00 with no problem at all. Apparently Penny and Tony arrived before 4:00 and had to go thru hoops to be let in, so gauge accordingly!

And the later you stay the less wait time there is!

You might find it crowded at that time of the year due to Food and Wine Festival.

When we were in Epcot it seemed empty but when we were in MGM it was packed! That's when the FastPass comes in handy! It seems that's when the Brits have their break.

Enjoy!

Welcome Home! How was the cottage?

Thank you guys so much for all the info. We're really getting excited now even though we're a year away!
We started throwing around costume ideas last night, although every idea we came up with, my niece met with a "NO! I want to be a Disney Princess!" LOL My sister wants us all to go as some kind of theme so we have nearly a year to get my niece to change her mind.

It will be hard staying at a regular resort room!

I am very afraid of staying in the one bedroom now!

'Cause if I like it just as or more than the studio, I'll have to get more points!

Tanya absolutely loved it! Usually I'm the first to mention how many days till our next trip but she beat me to it!LOL

Dawnywog ~ Remember that it can be very, very hot and keep that in mind when deciding what costumes you wear! Saw a few people half dressed by the end of the night due to the heat!LOL

Hey Scratch!
Looks like we'll see you next year after all...even though we aren't cruisin' with you in August.
It was really difficult to trick or treat in our area this year and with the new baby, we will really not be able to take the time to do that next year. So my husband has decided it would be easier to just go to Disney from Oct. 29/05 - Nov. 8/05.
Yipee! My mom will come with us so baby can stay with her while we do MNSSHP!!!!
Glad you and Tanya had fun!
