Hi!

My MIL and I decided that we were going to meet the princess (we booked the Princess Gathering and Frozen) ... *Yes, we are young at heart!*

Now. Do you absolutely need to buy the pictures or can you ask an employee to take a picture with your cellphone/camera at the same time as the photographer like you can do with Mickey?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I was hoping they had that because the pictures from Shutters are very expensive (and not always good)...

And the Characters will treat you that way if you wish. If you talk to them about castles and villains, etc, they will be perfectly happy to go along with it. It's a lot of fun. The pictures (with your camera) will be great!

That is what I heard.

I'm seriously considering wearing a tiara --just a tiara, not a dress-- for the picture but I wonder if this would be permitted (I know that in Disney adults can't wear anything that could make them look like a princess... Not that I look like a princess or anything but you know what I mean).

As the previous posters have mentioned there is always a cast member around who will take pictures for you with your phone/camera so there is no need to purchase the photo package from DCL. I always compare my photos with the ones taken at Shutters to decide which is better. If I feel Shutters picture is much better than mine I will purchase it.

Adults cannot dress so that they are mistaken for characters. Not "can't dress wear anything that could make them look like a princess".

I wear a tiara in the parks and on the ship. It is fun being addressed as your highness, and I love that Else asks me when my coronation was/is. A tiara doesn't count against the rules of dressing up. It's kinda like wearing ears. I say go for it, Your Highness. Enjoy being a princess on the ship.princess:

Hmm... Do they sell tiara ears?

Thank you. I wouldn't wear a gown, just a tiara because it's fun to do it.

And also because me begging for a tiara everytime I go to Disney has been a running gag for years between my husband and I.

So, is it perfectly acceptable for kids to dress up for meet and greet photos? Id love to put my son in prince outfit for princess meet and greet.

Of course! You'll see many, many little princesses all over the ship, a prince would be very welcome! LOL My girls have dressed up as Minnie Mouse, Snow White, Ariel, Cinderella, just to name a few. One Pirate Night, my one daughter's costume somehow even matched our cruise director's outfit! We cherish these photos. Have so much fun!

Just FYI...For the Frozen meet & greet on the magic last October, the room was kept so dark that my photos (taken with my phone) didn't really turn out. But the Shutters ones were awesome - because their cameras were set to work with the lighting in the room.

My frozen ones on my last cruise were nice but my jack sparrow and Mickey (it was a Halloween cruise and the pumpkin tree was happening in the atrium below) were darker

I have an app (for pix editing) on my phone. I can fix the lighting on pretty much every picture.
