Questions Re: adding RO res to free dining package

Hi! I have a few questions. I have a free dining package booked. Hubby was able to tAke off 2 extra days ( before the start of booked package). I made a room only reservation for those days. I was told I would be able to stay in the same room.
1. Does that sound correct?
2. Will my magicbands work for the room only reservation on the first day ( even though they were bought with free dining for 2 days later)?
3. Can I use my park tix early?
4. Will I need to check out of the room and leave and then check back in if I am staying in the same room?
Anything else I need to know? Please help, this is very confusing! Thanks!

Who told you you could stay in the same room? That is not guaranteed. Disney will try as it is a little less work for them to keep you in the same room, but it is not a given.

And yes typically you will need to check in and out, though with on line check in that may be changed a bit.

If both reservations are for the exact same room category, then you have a very good 90%+ chance of staying in the same room (we have added a day a few times and have yet to change rooms). Our last couple of trips when we did this, they told us at check-in that we will be able to stay in the same room and to just come to the lobby to make it official, and you will not have to actually leave the room. Make sure both trips are linked under your MDE account and you should not have any issues with your MBs. We are AP holders, so cannot help you with your tkt question.

Re: 3, you will be able to activate your park tickets at Guest Relations in advance of your package, but will not be able to make 60-day FP+ for those dates.

Re: 4, even if you are allowed to stay in the same room, which is not guaranteed, you will have to fully check out and check back in, yes. And you will not have access to dining credits until you are checked in. Do not count on online check-in alone for your check-in for this kind of thing. Go to the desk, make sure you are blocked to the same room, check out, check in with the desk, and TEST YOUR MAGICBAND before heading out to a park.

Do not assume Rope Drop on the day you switch from RO to the package.

Thank you all for the replies! When I called to make the RO res, the lady helping me assured me we would get to stay in the same room, though from what yall are saying, that is not guaranteed.

When we arrive for the RO stay, will our magicbands that we got for the package work to unlock the door ( did online check in and linked res in MDE)?

Can we go to the park on day one of our RO stay?

All Magic Bands on your account are interchangeable.

You can go to the park on day one of your RO stay, but you will have to activate the tickets at Guest Services and will be unable to pre-book FP+.

Be careful as we did this last year, added on 3 extra days at the end of our free dining package. While we were able to stay in the same room our MBs somehow got all messed up. We went to the lobby and checked out and then in again with our room only ressie. We walked all the way back to our room at CSR only to discover that none of us could open our room door with our MBs. So of course we walked all the back to the lobby and it took the CM 45 mins to figure it out and manually reprogram each of our MBs but then only 1 of our 2 sets of MBs (since we had 2 separate reservations we got 2 sets of MBs) would work to open our room door. I don't know what happened but it was a hassle to remember which band to wear that day so we could get back into our room! We weren't on free dining anymore at this point so that wasn't an issue and our park tickets worked just fine.

You will actually have the opportunity to get 2 sets of Magic Bands. One set for each reservation.
